This may sound REALLY stupid, but what about masturbation? Hypersexuality is a big symptom for me and I use this as an outlet. There are times I have masturbated up to 10 times a day--my husband doesn't know. I'm not gay but I have a fantasy about leaving my husband for a woman when I am manic...masturbation helps me to control the desire (of course I am a stay at home mom with 3 young kiddos so that contributes a lot.) I'm sorry for your situation and agree that it would be best to wait until the episode is over and see. I hope it works out well for you.

Not stupid at all, its what my pdco recommends.
I have never cheated on anyone while hypersexual, but it is a major fear of mine.

I've actually done the same thing! Glad this can be talked about here...

Definitely masturbation, fantasy plays a big role in my hypersexuality, including writing fantasy. Also looking at what, for me, is inappropriate content on the net. The word SEX is very much in large colorful brightly lit letters when I am manic and hypersexual.

I can really relate to hypersexual mania, when I am manic, it's one of my main symptoms. For years I thought I just had anxiety and maybe a sex addiction. But I'd get these urges to go out and have random casual sex with random multiple people, sometimes for several weeks, along with talking a million miles a minute, painting things, cleaning, & biting people's heads off who got on my nerves. Finally I was diagnosed bipolar I, and I realized what was wrong with me. When I would get manic, sometimes I'd be exhausted or feel bad, but yet I'd still feel compelled to go out and have sex, or make things or explain some theories I had regarding the universe & the meaning of it all. Sometimes I'd also get very paranoid like people were stalking me or spying on me.

One of the reasons mania is so exhausting. You don't realize it at the time, but when it stops, you realize, wow, I was feeling really really good & now I need to catch up on some sleep! For me it's almost a relief to finally be told I have bipolar so I can come to terms with it & hopefully stay stable.
