After weeks of struggling, picking up the phone only to put it back down, knowing I should call but not having the guts to call. I finally called my tdoc! It turns out I was placed on that program! Not only do I get free visits, but I also qualify to see a pdoc (the insurance I had only allowed the tdoc). Downside? The pdoc doesn't have an opening until Oct 28th. I took it though...and asked to placed on a waiting list in case anyone cancels.

Which leads me to my dilemma-
She said that probably the best thing for me to do is to check myself into the stabilization unit (it's just like inpatient but not technically considered hospitalization). It's a 3 day stay maximum. Upside- I will get started on meds immediately, be seen each day by doctors and nurses, and there is a grant program so I can go for free. Downside- if I go this will be my 3rd hospital stay in 6 months.

What do I do? Do I go into the stabilization unit, or tough it out until 28th??? If I go I won't go until Monday... I have my girls this weekend and I WILL NOT miss it!

My opinion, you should consider how urgently you feel you need help. Bipolar with the ups and downs can be tricky, but if you felt like you can cope for the past week, I don't think it is necessary to go on Monday.

That being said, the sooner one gets treatment the better it is for you and the people around you. It depends on how debilitating or dysfunctional the biploar is and will could possibly be in the next 2 weeks.

If you can book in at the unit at any time, then I think it might be a good back-up plan for in case you don't feel you can wait any longer.

But trust your gut, if you feel this isn't the answer you wanted, then go to the unit on Monday. (:

Good luck and many blessings!

Pdoc is 2 weeks away, if you go Monday by the time you see pdoc you'll know how the meds are doing and any side effects you're having. If you are willing to going I would.

It's a tough decision... It really depends on how you feel. Do you feel safe? I was once in a similar situation... Just knowing I had the option seemed to help and I was able to step back and increase my coping skills and self care.

Maybe write out a Pro/Con.... sometimes that can nudge you one way or another.

So glad you got into a program that will allow you to receive much needed help.

Stay safe
