I took Saphris for a few months at 5 mg which was plenty to take care of my symptoms. The only side effect was the sleepiness which is clearly warned about. I found I needed 8-9 hours of sleep each night and that was plenty to keep from feeling groggy the next day. Other than that no other side effects. I actually lost weight because for me it suppressed my appetite to the point that I had to remind myself to eat.

I've been on Saphris for three years, except for one 3 month vacation. Helps my symptoms, no weight gain but I monitor my weight carefully. Knocks me out cold, though, so I take all 20 mg at bedtime.

I've been on saphris for 18 months, no weight gain, I am on 5 mg it puts me right out at night and no side effects in the morning as long as I get enough sleep. 9 hrs is usually good. Early mornings arent good though, I am comatose within 4-5 hrs of taking it.
Thanks for this!

I was on Saphris for a little over a year. It gave me panic attacks and trouble swallowing. It made me think I had Parkinson's. I went to a neurologist and he recommended that I stop taking it. I switched to Seroquel and I am much better.

Saphris is some evil ****.

Did any of you all have to manage your blood glucose and have it checked to make certain Saphris wasnt causing it to go up? I have read that it can make glucose leveks rise in anyone being diabetic, pre diabetic, or neither. Thank you all so much for the reapinses too! I always get nervous on a new med.

before Saphris

150 mg Lamictal
60 mg Prozac
100 mg Vistiril
20 mg Ritalin

now she has me at:
10 mg sephris
150 mg Lamictal
40 mg prozac
100 mg visteril

ty so much for your response. It is greatly appreciated. I am always worried about the subject of weight gain. I am not at a healthy weight to begin with. She did have me on Zyprexa before she prescribed me the Lamictal. I gained 29 lbs on the Zyprexa!

This time I voiced my concern to her but her answer back was not to worry about the weight gain and instead lets focus on getting my mood stabalized.

The taste is still the worst. There is a cherry flavor that is supposed to be better, but I found it was awful, just in a different way, so it really didn't matter much. I just dealt with it for the 10 minutes while you can't drink anything and then I brushed me teeth really well before I passed out for the night.
