Is anyone else "triggered" by random noises in the environment?" I am often triggered by people laughing, someone opening up a snack wrapper, loud chewing (lol), people coughing, or people interrupting me in general when I'm doing something.

Feel like I am very sensitive to certain sounds.

I often find myself clenching my fists in aggravation at my desk.

Am I alone in this?

Being interrupted is a work in progress for me to not lose it. It is coming along.

I also can't stand it when people touch their noses, 1 time I can handle but that is it! Or when people sniff instead of blowing their nose over and over again, you body is producing mucus to get it out, so blow your nose!!!!

Smacking lips while eating or chewing gum.

Using a lot of words but saying nothing. Taking a long time to do things. Being late, especially if that is your habit (see annoying habits before this one, I absolutely hate my time being wasted) very rude and inconsiderate.

There are other things, but these come to mind first.

I can't think of what it's called at the moment but there is a name for being extremely agitated when you hear certain sounds. If I remember it I will post it later.

Yes I can relate! I especially feel like freaking out when I see old people eat!? Or if silverware scrapes the plate, or little kids yelling.

I ignore the phone and door usually because I expect notice first. I have a stong startle response which is from PTSD. If I'm at home and my husband walks in behind me I jump and yell. He thinks it is funny; I just feel like I'm having a heart attack.

High pitches noises and loud commercials on TV. I always have the remote so I can hit mute when the commercials come on.

Me, too. I even have the sounds on my laptop muted. I would rather read about news than see and hear a video. I hate crowds, loud noises, have had terrible startle reactions, am startled easily (ever since ECT early in my life in my 20's.) Am much older now. I dislike music that is repetitive. I think that we are super-sensitive to many things. I do not like this one bit. Soft, calming music helps a bit, also "white noise" at night helps. Simplifying my life as much as possible helps also. Use whatever works for you. I hope something will work for you. For sure, talk to doc about it also. Our sensitivities are magnified for some reason, sometimes worse than other times. Try to get it fixed. My worse time took months to get over with some good PTSD counseling.
Best of Luck with this!
