I am coming out of a 3 month depression, I think. I am noticing a lot of the music I was jamming to during this time is quickly being skipped on the old iPod. Likewise music I was skipping is now on my playlist.

Does anyone else experience a change of taste in music or anything else for that matter?

I also find that during manias I will not eat meat, but any other time I will a little. I am pretty sure my manner of dress changes too now that I think about it…..

I was actually planning on making a topic about the same thing. My musical taste is pretty open by default--I used to be closed in to what my parents listened to, but I've since come out of that shell. During mania I find myself more likely to listen and seek out new music or just enjoy music a lot more than normal. I'm more driven to how the music makes me feel, so to that end it really doesn't matter what genre it is.

I also care about my appearance more when up as well. I get the urge to wear glasses or shades for some reason.

I have noticed a change in my music preferance due to which end of the spetrum I'm on. Haven't noticed a difference in food preferances, though.

I find that during periods of depression or dysthymia, I reject all music, which is awful since it can be so healing. However my choices at times of depression run along the lines of Van Morrison's depressive songs.

When feeling up, I love Springsteen. His songs just lift me. They equate to happier times, a happier me. I miss feeling that way.

P.S. I do notice that as far as food goes, when I am depressed, I rarely eat, but if I do it is carbs. I can't say I have ever been manic, but when feeling well, I love to cook, mostly seafood or chicken.

I have this problem too. I joke that I am three different people in one. I even switch from vegan to meat-eater depending on my state.

My music tastes change dramatically when my mood does. I even made a CD called "Music for Depression", which has songs from Schubert's Ave Maria to Evanescence's My Immortal. Anything and everything that makes me cry. LOL

But the music I listen to during manic episodes is fast and hard-driving---there's '80s metal and arena rock mostly, and I also play some passionate Spanish guitar music and '70s acid rock.

Oh yes, my music tastes change a lot. Especially when hypo. I'll want to listen to a lot more clubbing music when I'm in an up.

As to food? Both up and down I'm a lot more likely to eat "quick" things, like a frozen pizza. Or not eat.

When I'm baseline, I eat a lot healthier and more regularly.
