Hi,
Ok so I'm new here, so please be patient with me because I ramble and I'm not sure if I'm writing this in the right place. I was diagnosed with a lot of things before they finally figured out it was Bipolar, and it has all taken a pretty massive toll on me and my body. The medication train is not a fun one, of course they say it all pays off in the end....I'm waiting for that to come. One doctor said I was type 2 but then I saw another doctor who didn't think it was very normal for me to think there was someone living in my roof or to think there was someone in my house every night. So they shifted me onto anti-psychotics, which has been pretty good since I can finally sleep now, although I still hate going to bed...it's boring and a waste of my time. I got married this year, it was beautiful but slightly over shadowed by my medication changes and my mental stability coming and going. I am now on 200mg of Lamotrogine, 10mg of Saphris at night and 100mg of zoloft. I am extremely happy to not be on Seraquel anymore since it made me gain a whole lot of weight and gave me horrible nightmares and believe me that is a big thing for me since my dreams were already a mess without it. I was hoping someone could let me know if they are on any of those medication mixes and how they faired on them as I have only started Saphris and Zoloft a few weeks ago. Also if anyone has any tips when it comes to sexual drive, because mine is suffering a lot due to the drugs. |

Zoloft sent me into a sexual mania, but everyone is different. I did not notice an effect on my libido at all with Lomotrogine.

Zoloft or lamotrogine didnt affect my sex life much, but on the higher levels of zoloft (150mg+) it was difficult to get in the mood and finish off. It didnt bother me at the time but it would now days since I have a committed partner. Im on a much much lower dose of zoloft now and with my AP it is working pretty well with no sexual side effects.
I really like lamotrogine, but it was too expensive for me to stay on. It is a very good mood stablilser. Keep a record of how you feel on each medication to look back on later. Sometimes you have to go for the less of the evils to get a med that works. Some side effects we do just have to put up with in order for stability unfortunately. |

I'm on lamotrigine and wellbutrin. My drive hasn't really changed but I've heard a lot of people praise wellbutrin for sex drive. I don't know anything about your current medications though.
I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. Congratulations on getting married, it's so nice to have an SO who understands your struggles (as best as a non BP can). Things will turn out alright in the end. If you're ever lost we at the forums like to encourage each other. ![]() Hugs!

Zoloft/Sertraline caused me to have sexual issues (delayed orgasm to be precise) for around two months. I'd get to the point of having sexual intercourse for hours yet to no avail, which caused both myself and my partner to get wound up. After the two months this side effect stopped but apparently it's rather common with Sertraline to have sexual dysfunction.
Sorry if that's a case of too much information, but this needs to be discussed. I found the inability to achieve ograsm depressing and thus the antidepressant started out for me as a counter-productive medication. RB.

Sertraline sends my sex drive uncontrollably high that i'll act out on my urges when i know i shouldnt. However, in comparison I've heard the majority of antid's will supress the system.
Im starting to believe everyone is built in different ways, and react differently to similar medications!
