When depressed? Like an animal that has fallen off the brink of a quarry, into the lake below and is treading water, hopelessly looking for a way out when all sides brink.

Great question!
The only answer I can come up though is manic me: a unicorn. Life is totally surreal and I am the awesome-est creature on the planet. With magical powers and beauty and confidence beyond reality. |

depression-a hippo that can't stop eating
hypomania-a cat that has been force fed speed and is hanging upside down from the ceiling with all twenty claws firmly attached, fur and tail all pointy as if I'd been electrocuted mania-the queen of the jungle who has already killed and eaten her mate and would do the same to you if you even dare to look at her |
