My family and I are all very close, especially my mom and I. Naturally, she is generally one of the first who knows when something is amiss - possibly even before I do. I have phone numbers I need and I know the "team" I have behind me right now is amazing and would do anything to make sure I am okay. I just have to make sure I do my part as well.

Abilify is category C in the United States. However, Latuda (lurasidone) is category B, and recently it was FDA approved for the treatment of bipolar depression. Dr. John just did a write up about it earlier this month, here.
I give Latuda two thumbs up because it has a very low side effect profile. I recommend taking it at night, with a snack, 1 to 3 hours prior to bedtime, as in many it can help initiate sleep. Ambien and the other prescription sleep aids are category C. Okay that just makes me even more upset with that pdoc. She wouldn't put me on Lamictal because she said it wasn't good for pregnancy but would put me on Abilify which I hated??!!! Very strange.
Good to know about Latuda. To make everything even more confusing and frustrating my perinatalogists said that they don't even care about the pregnancy categories. That to them they are pretty meaningless. They have a huge data base thing of research etc. so I don't know but that was just what they said. |
