I've just switched from Seroquel to the generic quetiapine for sleep, 25-50mg. I've not slept well on the generic quetiapine - I'm going to give it a bit longer before passing judgment, since I am a bit stressed and anxious now anyway.

Has anyone else made the switch? Noticed any differences?

I started the generic this past month and I haven't noticed any difference. I think I might be a bit more groggy in the mornings than usual but I've also been going to bed really late, too.

I've never taken brand, always the generic for sleep at low dosages like that. The sleepy effect does wear off though so, you gotta stop taking it for a bit or maybe get a dosage increase. I find after a few days 25 to 50 mg does nothing.
Thanks for this!

WoW, thanks for letting me know that it comes in a generic form. My pharmacy always gives me the name brand and it costs a lot of money.

I am going to request generic next time.

You learn something new everyday!!!!

Thx. so much!

Cocoa generic just came out in the past month in the US. It still costs like 150 for 30- 50 mg pills but better than 400.

Exactly. I was going to say the same thing - bear in mind that I am in Europe. Although the generic is new here too. I can't believe how much you guys pay for medication in the US, jeeez

Thanks for all the replies.

Wow! We've had generic in Canada for awhile, granted I don't take the extended release. Rarely ever take brand drugs. Generic here is only about 22 bucks a month!
Thanks for this!

I believe I was on brand name for quite a while and noticed a change in the imprint recently. As far as effects go, I haven't noticed anything. I wouldn't worry too much over it.

just found out that my Seroquel is going to cost me 517.00 for 90 days. This mean the cost of my sanity is approximately $7.00 per day. Ever so saddening!

Just found out that there is a generic, I have read a few of the entries. Anything new that you are all aware of??? Thanks!

After looking into our insurance further, I will end up paying $1200.00 per year for all of my medication.

Seroquel XR
Effexor XR
Wellbutrin SR
Diazapine
Levothyroxine
Omprazole

I am grateful to have insurance, otherwise I am quite sure that I would be one of the most despondent, depressed individuals one has come to know. The ones we try to help the ones on the streets, the ones who do not have medication to help them with their dis-ease.

They say we have disorders. The scholars who write the DSM are continually evolving, thank the universe for huge miracles. Possibly one day I will not have a disorder, perhaps I will have a disease of the mind.

I say it is a breakdown in our CNS, that our synapses no longer function in the fashion that our bodies need them to function, resulting in a lapse of ability to complete tasks. And the individual who does not get/seek help continues down this path in what is called the snowball effect. And, then one day they have a melt down. This is a life or death dis-ease that we are looking at here.

Just like cancer, our cells no longer work in the fashion that our bodies need them to function. They begin to work against us. Our WBC count increase's attempting to kill off the cells that are attacking however once realized that our own cells have began to work against the very nature of life itself we are devastated. We get ill, very ill and often times do not make it out alive. Another life and death dis-ease that all humanity deals with.

Semantics, they matter! It is only a matter of time, I am out to change a lot of minds, as we do not have disorders we have synapse malfunctions just like cancer patients have cell malfunctions.

Does it matter, yes, mental health really ought to be titled brain health.

Cheers to all, make it a great day!
