There is a NAMI group about an hour away. I thought about going to group therapy but IDK, I've been put on hold for making appointments recently due to missing a couple appointments. I'm 25, living in a ****** small town, I have either Bipolar or Schizoaffective. I'm not sure which one they picked.
I don't have a job, my dad is supporting me financially. I'm struggling to find a job and I don't feel like I have any job skills. I dropped out of college last year because a friend died and I couldn't handle it. It's in this town. I want to go to a better college but my dad won't pay for college. He just wants me to get a job. It's been stressful. My mother does have schizophrenia. So I'm living at home, and she's untreated and my dad can't get her to get treatment and the county commissioner just ignores him and then the insurance got her out of the hospital early last time, and she stopped taking her medication in one week. She needs long term care. I have skills. I'm not on disability. I can drive and have my license. But I am just living in such an unbalanced environment IDK what to do. |

Have you been put on hold for making group therapy appointments? Do you have access to a therapist and psychiatrist who you meet one-on-one? Even when I'm feeling fine, I find it useful to have regular access to a psychiatrist and psychologist. It's a professional safety net, and they can keep me on track if I ever slip. Those of us with mental illness have to be a lot more careful, in general, than most other people. Good luck

I would seriously go to your county website they will have a section for mental health most of them are sliding scale fee because you are 25 it'll be based off your income to receive therapy and psychiatry. The semester after you turn 26 you are considered an independent and can receive up to $5,500 towards school a year for 6 years in pell if you did not use financial aid last time you were in college. I also suggest signing up for income based housing because a lot of times utilities are included and if your name come up and you have a job that can pay normal rent you'll just be asked to pay "market value" which is usually pretty cheap to begin. I know some aren't the best neighborhood but it gives you an all in one bill. So in rough times you only have to remember one bill.
