So I've been fighting a depressive spell for a while, and it's finally really sinking it's claws into me. I have no ambition, I'm tired all the time, and I don't want to do anything but go back to bed. Usually I take my morning pills on my first or second break when I'm at work, thanks to them making me tired. It's too much to take them as soon as I get up. Saturday when I went to work, I forgot to pack my pills. But I felt great. I had energy all day, and in fact, I even volunteered to do the most physically demanding job in the room for most of the day, just because it felt good. Sunday was okay, and today I am back into this depression, almost worse off than it was before. What is wrong with me? Could my meds be causing my depression?

It would be worth discussing with your pdoc.

I was on abilify from April until July. That and celexa. I stopped having happy manias almost immediately, but ended up mixed from the AD. When they increased the abilify and decreased the AD I wavered between mild and moderate depression until I demanded to be taken off abilify because I could not afford it. I started trileptal and felt better within weeks.
So yeah, it could be your meds.

My depression got worse when they added a 2nd AD and felt so much better when I came off it. Definitely worth speaking to your pdoc about!

Hopefully I'll be able find some relief today. I called yesterday and was able to get an emergency appointment with my pdoc today.

Of course they can. I don't see your med list, but Venus must have seen it, so you have not one but two culprits.

Each person reacts differently to each med. A med could make someone manic while the same pill makes someone else depressed. It is much a trial-and-error for the doc when he puts someone on a new med because he also has no idea how that person will react on that med. This is one reason why it is so very important to TALK to your doc. If you do not tell him how you feel then he will never know how you feel.

Sorry, only now see the signature -
I see it now, in a browser, but I didn't see it in Tapatalk. Maybe I did not figure out how to tweak Tapatalk. So you are taking a high dose of Abilify that has an AD property in only a minority of cases, a medium dose of Geodon which does not have such properties in most cases, and a negligible dose of Lamictal which has AD properties, but at a higher dose. It sounds like the pdoc is only intent on preventing mania. |

What motivated the pdoc to prescribe two major AP's? It is certainly not typical.
