I have been taking Geodon at night and since I have been taking it, it seems the depression gets worse. Since it is the weekend I cannot see my pdoc until Monday.

I'm afraid to stop taking my meds as prescribed and I'm trying to hold on emotionally until Monday.

Has this happened with any of you all? Just wondered if it was the meds.

I've had the opposite effect with new medicine. I'm hypomanic and anxious. I'm not stopping my meds either - just waiting until Monday. Hang in there and wait for Monday.

well, meds for BP are basically uppers and downers. Too much of downers will make you feel... down.

I think you oversimplify things, Venus. When I was in a terrible depression I agreed to take Seroquel, which has sedating effects so would be considered by you to be a "downer". I was better within four days. Energetic, happy, etc. It honestly saved me from doing something dumb.

With that said meds can absolutely have adverse and opposite effects. For example on geodon I could not sleep, which my pdoc at the time dismissed because she "had never heard of that". I also cannot take antidepressants as they make me mixed (anxious, irritable, suicidal) within two weeks. Sometimes pdocs dismiss these symptoms as mine did because they are unusual, but if it's causing you great distress you mug advocate for yourself and request something different. But also give yourself some time to adjust.

Zeldox/Geodon really helps my depression. But recently I was on clomipramine a tricyclic antidepressant and it put me into a depressive episode and made me suicidal. I am still recovering in hospital. Meds dont always work they way they are supposed to and wildflowerchild is right, you have to be your own advocate, my pdocs said some of my symptoms from the clomipramine were not usual for that med, but they started when I started the drug and stopped a few days after stopping the drug, that tells me it was the drug at fault.

The Geodon could be up too high for you, are you getting really tired from it too?

I cycle very rapidly and I can't tolerate anti-depressants. I tend to bounce out of depression naturally.

I do have a horrible few days when my meds are being adjusted. Whenever I'm hypomanic and my meds get increased, it feels like I'm driving 80mph and throw the transmission into reverse. It's like a mix of numbness and sadness that lasts for about 3 days and it's horrible. It doesn't feel natural. But that's about the only time my meds cause a depression for me.
