Does anyone play a musical instrument to help their BP condition? This can be to handle anxiety or stress for instance. Or a way of getting lost for awhile from those depressing thoughts. This of course supplements your medicine regime.
Personally I fiddle with my music synthesizers. I used to know how to play the piano, such as Scott Joplin's The Entertainer. I have tried to relearn this ability but have not been able to stick with the practicing long enough to make a difference. So instead I noodle with the literally thousand sounds I have at my disposal, or can create from scratch. I find that this is still relaxing to me, takes my mind off of things when depressed, and is exciting when my mood shifts upwards. That is when I turn up the volume. ![]()

I WISH I had any ability to play an instrument! Does the radio count? Lol. I do listen to music ALOT to help my moodswings though. I have music on my phone for every mood I could possibly be in! Gave up on meds a long time ago because I've never found anything that worked for me, & I get fed up with being the FDA's guinea pig. So music and an EXTREME & PAINS TAKING AMOUNT of self control is all I have.

I listen to music a LOT to change my moods too. I have music for all kinds of moods. I grew up with music in my home, but unfortunately I didn't inherit my Dad's talent with the piano.

Music is a huge part of my life. I play the piano a lot and it helps me cope with things better. Also, I'm just about constantly listening to music, you will just about never find me sitting in my bedroom in silence.

Recently I decided to try and learn the bass to help with my concentration and memory as well as to have a calming exercise that might help me through and take my mind off my issues. Unfortunately, avolition is a very chronic problem in my life so I don't get around to practicing as much as I would like to. The intention and the want to use the instrument as a form of self-guided music therapy are there but many times the motivational drive to actually do it is what's missing. But it does help me to take my mind off the world around me and forces me to focus on the task at hand whenever I do play it. So, I guess that's good.

I can't play an instrument very well so I listen to Youtube videos and hypnosis tapes. They help me calm down.

I play guitar and sing. It used to be how I got through the day as a teenager. Recently discovered I am not happy with my voice any more, even though I sing in a choir which you have to audition for. So I guess I am not too bad despite what I think. However; recently, it is becoming an obsession:I am infatuated with Tool I just go into a rapture spasm type thing. I feel that music can heal and trear apart everything. I go through periods of being demi-obsessed with music and funny things like wizard of OZ and Hamlet , and triangles/fractals. Music gets me through the day and redirects my concentration some times I think I will burst with music.
