That is probably the first time I have ever said I wish it were Monday, but I do. I have an appointment with my psych about hopefully taking me off of Lithium and trying a new med. I have had so many problems with it. I'm thirsty all the time. This makes me have to pee CONSTANTLY. I literally get up every two hours in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I'm sick of the blood work every ten days. The last time I got blood work the "efficient" lab lost it. Next, I have even worse acne than when I was a teenager and I was on Accutane then. I have a disgusting taste in my mouth all the time and bad breath. Lastly, and the last straw, if I have now developed hand tremors. In the midst of all this, would I say my Bipolar is well managed? No, I am still not where I want to be, and as you can see on my signature, I am taking 1800 mg of Lithium a day (6 pills). So over it. Now though, I have to wonder what will work for me without a ton of side effects. I like quick and easy answers. However, my Bipolar II does not seem to want to cooperate.

((hugs)) Wow you are on alot of Lithium ... But good thing your having blood tests every 10 days .. You could easily go Toxic ..

Been very straight forward with your Pdoc that you want off it now ! your don't have to taper off Lithium..

Good luck

Well what mood stabilizers have you tried? I had the same problems with lithium. I have tried lithium, depakote, neurotin, and lamictal. Plus countless ADs and APs. I have found some success on trileptal. Lithium is not the only thing out there. Just think, only a few more days!

I'm on lamictal 200mg twice a day. I'm also bp2 and it works really good and I have no side effects at all! Bring this one up to yr pdoc. There are others too but from personal experience I know this one works. I'm also on neurontin 1200mg, lexapro 10, geodon 140, latuda 20 and adderall for my bad adhd. So u may seem to be on alot but u need every one. I've tried to take one away and it's always been disastrous. Just a few more days and then you'll be able to get off it. Good.luck to you. Let us know how it goes!
