How would you define being in crisis?

Not able to care for your basic needs. Eating, sleeping, hygiene, ...etc.

For me it means immediate danger to myself - suicidal with plan and intent to carry out and/or low impulse control.

For other it may mean harming others or what sidestepped said above.

My pdoc does not consider self injury to be a crisis level event and neither do many hospitals. Unless it is severe.

Do you think you are heading that way?

I thought I was earlier until I gave in to a cigarette. I'm gonna hold off quitting until I talk to my pdoc Tuesday cause just using lozenges wasn't cutting it.

For me a small crisis is wanting to run away, move to some remote place where there are no people and live off the land

Hah, I am a city girl. I would starve my first week there

Major crisis is thinking about a handful of sleeping pills and a bottle of vodka

CRISIS are those few fleeting moments before an overwhelming force rips you into pieces and leaves you bleeding in agony in the mud until help arrives.

Crisis is not being over-drafted on your checking account or having your wife announce that she's divorcing you to marry your boss. Those are merely inconveniences.

Solid responses here. I'll add a partial definition:

Being in a position where it is extremely difficult, if not seemingly impossible to care for basic needs or to get the help necessary to do so. E.g. due to financial insolvency and lack of access to social security nets).

This applies regardless of whether one recognizes the necessity of seeking help, because I believe that some human needs are universal (e.g. food, sleep, medication, shelter, etc). One is in a crisis (in my opinion) if these things are lacking in a quantity and quality necessary for healthy survival, regardless of whether one recognizes the lackings.

I get very self-detructive
Bad food, no fresh air, bite my nails so low that they bleed

I'll think about the impact ratio of one car going at 120 kph, hitting another car
going 120 kph in the opposite direction - head on
