My advice is dont stop. I did stop my meds and I did wonderful for 6 months but then my life got stressful quite a few things hit me at once and my switch flipped and before I knew it I had left my family again and moved to the other side of town in a tiny apartment. Also got sexually promiscuous. Ive had hypersexuality w my mania thtee times now. This last one I had a scare of std but it was false thank God for that. I say switch meds. If youre feeling that way you need to try a new medication. I have been on many different medications. We all react different to specific meds so its all trial and error. You have to find the meds right for youre brain chemicals. I know there are some that can go med free so its not impossible. Im just not one that can. its been a long time since I have been on here but I think venusvalley was med free. She may be able to give some advice from the other side. Forgive me if I have the wrong name like I said its been awhile and I too have some memory issues. Good luck

I'm taking Omega Brite too, and my response has been great. It didn't help the mania, but did help improve cognitive functioning and prevent additional depressive episodes. As an added plus, my HDL cholesterol also improved. I am still on other meds, but am hoping to start tapering off of some of them soon (with my doctor's help--she's amazing!).

I got off Geodon and Seroquel 5 years ago to try and get pregnant. I felt great as I was getting off the meds, with the help of my pdoc. I even went on a Caribbean vacation with in-laws and had no problems at all, even with having a few drinks throughout the day. It took 3 months of trying before I got super depressed and seriously thought about suicide. We decided if I wasn't pregnant by the time I saw my pdoc, I was going to get back on my meds and stop trying...I found out the next day that I was pregnant.
Pregnancy seemed fine to me, but I did still have a little trouble. But I was able to work all during my pregnancy with little trouble...I worked in a hospital with a lot of patient contact. I started seeing my therapist then, and she noticed a difference from then to after when I was back on meds. I also was only able to go 2 weeks post partum before needing to get back on medication.

I tried that once. Ended up in the hospital worse than I ever was 6 months later.

I would do yourself a favor and if your doctor is available to help you wean off then go that route. I tried once to stop taking my medication and I almost beat the crap out of my family. Between feeling so horrible from the withdrawal and my symptoms going unchecked I almost lost everyone I hold dear and love. I really hate the fact that I'll probably be on medication for the rest of my life but if it means that my family and I can have a better relationship then its worth it.

FYI I take 150mg of Lamictal, 100mg of Zoloft and 40mg of Latuda. Seems to be a decent combination although the Latuda is trigging major anxiety and my doctor and I are trying to better dial the dose in to see if that can be stopped.
