Few days before i was completely depressed not able to do anything, even i fell ill, i was sleeping almost whole day. Now 3 days before, i finally think to fight to make it up. tried everything like music exercise, motivation everything. I feel still feel sleepy but whenever i sleep, i just lay downward my mind is racing but my body doesn't support it. I dont know neither too depressed nor elevated and never normal. I haven't take any meds since last 6 months. And don't want to rely on them again. What shall i do i am completely frustrated. Sorry for my bad English

Why are you reluctant to use medication? What is your diagnosis, and what medication have you tried in the past? Are you seeing any doctors right now?
One thing you might consider: Aromatherapy: lavender and chamomile soothe me. I like drinking some chamomile tea before I sleep, or when I have racing thoughts. Understanding your precise situation will help us give more targeted feedback. |

I take the supplement Melatonin to help me sleep. It's works for me and is not a drug or habit forming. Give it a try

My mind races all the time when I lay down to go to sleep. Racing thoughts are very frustrating, sometimes it takes me hours to finally fall asleep. I feel your pain. |

I think you are describing a mixed episode. I do not get them, but have read a lot of accounts and yours matches some of them. They are harder to treat than straight depressive or straight manic episodes.

I have the same problem with sleep.
My mind may not be racing, yet it is still churning and some sharp thought may jab through, causing me to sit bolt upright in the bed, alarmed and distressed. These are thoughts of my facts and realities of life, past and present. Can't fix any of it. PoorPrincess dxd bipolar II Aricept, lithium ... not feeling strong at all. This happens to me from time to time. I take melatonin and valerian pills. Both are available in the vitamins isle at any drug store or grocery store. They help a great deal as well as Sleep Easy tea (that's it's name). Be sure you are going to the gym or running/walking as much as you can handle which will aid you greatly in getting sleep.

In addition to exercise, listening to mellow music to aid in falling asleep might help distract the racing mind... |

Agreed. Sandalwood is a personal favourite. We're not allowed candles and incense in our dorms, so I have to stick to essential oils during the academic year.

Been up since 11:30 ...now it's 2:40... But I also did go to bed at 8:30 pm. Took melatonin and drank 3 cups (!) of night time tea... Been reading but still awake, ugh. My primary care doctor referred me to a sleep specialist but they don't have open appointments until June

Also, do not watch tv before going to bed.
Spend a little time with a book, make it part of your routine |
