I went off latuda (my only psych med I was on) 2 weeks ago because the side effects after sever months were unbearable. About a week after going off latuda my husband said I was slurring my words. I don't hear myself slurring my words and its really concerning me. My memory is also shot. I cant remember things that just happened.

Is it going to be like this forever> I feel like a freak that people are noticing I'm slurring my words when I am trying so hard not to and I am really upset over my memory loss. What should I do?

I don't see my pdoc til may. I'm thinking of making an earlier appointment but over the years I've been on all the meds. Some worked then fizzled out, others gave me intolerable side effects and I got toxic from lithium. I'm really scared of going back on meds. I hope this just passes.

You can't "walk-in"? call your pdoc now, thats what I would do. might be something unrelated as the meds should have cleared your system by now

Call him. Pdocs are supposed to be available by phone to offer advice, do med tweaks, and let you schedule earlier appointments.

****Go to ER! This could be a sign of TIAs, which are mini strokes, and can be a warning sign that a real stroke is coming. This could be totally unrelated to meds. I might be wrong, but please get checked out before something terrible happens!!***

I would encourage you to try different meds. I can totally relate to you having memory problems. I can't remember my children's childhood...I can't remember movies I've seen. Maybe you are suffering from disassociative amnesia? Did you experience childhood trauma? I was told that there is a link to trauma and bipolar memory problems. Tell yr pdoc about this. I also have been told that memory problems can be from psych meds. If I had to choose between meds and getting my memory back I would choose meds. I have severe mi with bipolar depression, bpd, anxiety and ptsd. I HAVE to be meditated as much as I hate having to take them. I think we all wish we didn't have mi but it's about acceptance. I have to accept my illness or I'll go off the deep end. I wish you luck. U agree with everyone else...get in asap to yr pdoc. Take care

TIA is a transient is ischemic attack. It's caused by partially occluded blood vessels in the brain, and can happen before a stroke. The signs are the same as stroke, but last less than an hour and go away on their own. It wouldn't cause the memory loss that yalalada is having, but the slurred speech is concerning. I'd be especially concerned with difficulty talking, headaches, or any sign of weakness or paralysis on one side of the face and/or body. What yagalada has is probably not a tia, but it is possible and should be taken seriously. Regardless, tge symptoms of memory loss and slurred speech sound neurological, and i wouldn't want to assume it's related to meds without getting checked out.

Could be withdrawal and sounds neurological. Get it checked.

This is what I'm worried about. But I'm afraid if I go to the er and told them I went off my psych meds they'll put me on the psych ward. I'm a frequent flyer there.

I have PTSD and suffered extreme trauma. My PTSD has gotten better over the years and I don't dissociate like I used to but I've been under a lot of stress lately
