My therapist wants me to write about my childhood and bring it to my next session so we can discuss it. He said my childhood just seems like a big question mark to him because I never talk about it. I really don't know what to say about it. He thinks my problems are related to traumas, and he thinks my mood problems have been a reaction to things that must have happened when I was very young. So it's 1:30 am, and I can't sleep, so I think I'll try to write.

it's possible! Some researchers think bipolar is less brain chemistry and more a combination of genetic sensitivity and environmental factors, including childhood traumas. I know I had a crappy childhood - not nearly as bad as some, but not fantastic, and it has shaped who I am and possibly triggered bipolar. So who knows? But I do know that you can't begin to deal with it and move on until you see it for what it was. Maybe there will be nothing there but maybe something will help you good luck on your journey.
