I went to see a medical Dr about a lot of crap but mainly I'm overweight and over medicated imo. My medicare covered this really cool test. They did a cheek swab, and it will determine if I'm the killer. Haha

Actually, it is mailed off to a lab where a physician, in a blind test, studies the results to see what medications are helpful or harmful
I'd never heard of this test. It was a cool clinic except dude was pushing the Latuda WAY too much. He was like no it's all fine we'll get you set right up on patient asst and I just saw the rep this week. Yeah, I know where that crap is heading. Read the fine print assistance my ***. Those jack offs make so much $$$ in kick backs, and I wouldn't doubt Latuda is having a hard time because it costs a trillion dollars just like abilify. It was cool and I read about it on the Mayo Clinic site. It's probably a dna swab sponsored by Latuda hahaha. Otherwise I'm on so many meds I'm a fat zombie oh and I almost forgot the stupids. I'll let you all know when I get the results.

Tnt

I had that done with my pdoc, basically it helps her know how I metabolize chemicals...she puts all my meds in a computer database that tells her all the side effects and interactions. so far she's the best pdoc I've had out of 6.

I.never had that test done but I was recently put on latuda. It has almost lifted my depression. I haven't felt this diff in a long time. I believe I do have resistant depression cause it's still there. Just not as bad. As for yr test, where do I sign up!? It sounds like a great way to find out how my body is dealing with all these meds. I am lucky to not have any side effects to my 5 meds. Well 6 if you count my adhd med. Believe me I need every one. I get latuda free from the pharmacy company. That won't last fir long cause it will go generic and still cost a fortune.

It's a cool test, I've had it done. It's by a company called Assurex, I think.

What's the name of the test?
I recently started latuda and I hope nothing shows up for long term effects because it is helping and the best tolerated AP I've ever had.

Genesight. And I believe latuda is the latest greatest if you have the cash. They are testing an injection that would last a month.

Oh and I freaked bc I quit seroquel a month ago. They told me it doesn't matter. This isn't like a drug test. It tests the areas in your brain and how receptive they would be to drugs. That's why I was kidding about latuda sponsored dna kits.

My pdoc mentioned a test like this, but I don't think my insurance would pay for it.

I came across a pdoc who was hired by my friend for a business of his. Interesting person. She took this test herself and showed the results to her own pdoc. The doctor thought it was irrelevant. But then this was about 10 years ago. I guess she was ahead of her time.

This is so intriguing... I hope it is more on the "legit" side than the "sponsored by latuda" side. That would make it even more impressive.
I would like to get this done if it does in fact work. I also feel I'm on too many meds that either aren't working or aren't harmonizing well. I always feel out of it and fatigued.
Latuda is the devil! That stuff made me so sick.

I was on Latuda for about 3 or 4 months last year, and it was definitely not the right med for me. It wasn't that effective, and it made me queasy and I would puke it up at least once a week because you have to take it with a good amount of food and that was hard for me. I'm back on Seroquel now and I would like to keep it that way. For me, it's the second best med. Zyprexa worked better for me, but made me gain too much weight, and Seroquel is almost as effective, but for me completely weight neutral.

I totally agree. I'm over medicated on the wrong meds to boot and I have no idea what is MI and what is hormonal. I just sleep and eat. Being around people is awful and I hate leaving the house.

Hi. I've read that some people take lamictal with topamax. I would love that bc it's cheap and I can loose all the weight from seroquel.

I had the test done when I first started seeing my pdoc a couple of years ago. It gave me some good information about different meds not just psych meds, like how warfarin and ibuprofen would be in my bloodstream (if I take 200mg ibuprofen it acts as 250mg).

That sounds like my life right now! And 2 years ago it was never like this. I wasn't on meds then and I'm on a ton now, so it's pretty obvious they aren't doing me much good. I'm sorry you're dealing with the same thing. It's a terrible feeling.

Lamictal was the first med I tried and it gave me an unbearable rash (not THE rash, but one that covered most of my body and itched like mad), so I asked to be taken off of it and I have refused to ever try it again.

I really like Seroquel. A lot. It works well for me and has very few side effects. And no weight gain!!

You're lucky on the seroquel and a minority! I took one this morning bc I can feel myself spiraling out. It is awful to be reliant on all the stupid meds to function and pay Big Pharma in the process.

Yeah. I was surprised that it didn't make me gain weight since it's so similar to Zyprexa which made me gain a lot of weight very quickly. I will stay on Seroquel as long as it is effective for me. My pdoc was thinking about switching me back to Geodon but I told her absolutely not because of the horrible tremor it gave me...and Depakote did the same.

I would much rather not be reliant on meds, but I am...and I'd rather be functional than non functional or dead...so I take my meds to keep myself sane/safe.
Thanks for this!

Crap! That really bites. I just found out that I'm in menopause which slows most metabolisms and causes weight gain. Fml

I absolutely hate how many meds I'm on and the list is getting longer. I never know how to tell my pdoc yes I feel these meds are a good mix. I don't have anything to compare to feeling normal. What's that? It does seem like there's a place in between zombie and hysteria, but I can't say I've found it through meds.
