I know that I have sometimes *thought* my way into side effects from meds. If I expect it to happen it does, but if I breathe and try not to be anxious, I can get over it. Maybe you feel stupid because you're expecting to feel stupid?

When I took Topamax for migraine prevention, I recall that it really affected me cognitively as I got used to each successive dose increase. I know that ultimately, that side effect went away. Good luck with it.
