Not sure if everyone is aware of this. After you work for a year somewhere or 1250 hours per year (part time people dont qualify) you can apply for FMLA leave. Then an employer cant fire you for time off. I have been on intermitten FMLA leave which means I take time off as needed for a serious medical problem. There is a form a dr has to fill out. Basically if it is something that isnt going away, and requires so many visits per years and medication you are eligible. I have taken FMLA leave for my other conditions not for my mental health issues. On the forms they do have to state what the problem though..

I'm on fmla for my anxiety that was the reason in june when I had my pcp fill out the paperwork. Now I've got to extend the intermittent leave if I can.

Upon going into the hospital. I let my boss know and she helped set up FMLA for me....I stayed on it until I left that job. They knew it was for mental health

I was on FMLA in 2010 and after the 12 weeks ran out they fired me.

Its pretty easy for an employer to goggle the doctors name on the form and realize its a Pdoc .. Sadly enough most employers tend to " get rid" of an employee as soon as legally they can.
