Hi-
I have been depressed and anxious for most of my life. This time around, about 10 months ago, I was dxd w/ MDD, GAD, & PTSD. I a started seeing a new T, whom I do like. She thinks I am bipolar. I asked why...she said I am depressed and then my mood switches to really low very quickly. Is the mania ever (I do not know to phrase this) low, to really low, irritated...but never happy? I welcome all input as I am very confused. My pdoc stinks, so I see a PNP...I am on the best AD for me Cymbalta (least side effects). Thanks.

![]() So the rapid(a few seconds) it takes me to go from flat affect to ready to scream & throw things is my mania? It happened this morning...and I could have raged @ something stupid my mom did. But I did not. but my insides were all a mess. I quickely went back to flat affect. I am probably on the wrong medication. ![]()

PTSD can cause the stuff you are talking about. But if your and your T both think Bipolar is possible, its a good idea to ask your Pdoc about a mood stabilizer or an AP medication. Both types of medication can help with PTSD, too.

It doesn't sound typically bipolar to me from the little bit of info in your post, but of course it is possible. There are several possibilities that could cause those symptoms, but your T must have a reason for saying that, so maybe they are right. Can you talk to your pdoc or PNP about it to try to figure it out? Like others have said, it is just a label. It's only important because it can help you get the right treatment. Good luck!

Thanks everyone-
I know it is only a label. I apoke w/ the PNP and she said she did not think of me to be bipolar, because my mood changes are only for a a very short period of time. I think she feels I have a PD, but does not want to upset me. The CYmbalta did not cause me to have night sweats, but the Fetzima caused me to sweat A LOT. ARe you new to Cymbalta? I do not know what to think any longer! ![]()
