Just so I wouldn't have to talk to him anymore. Horrible **** right? He was pretty abusive though. Hopefully he never figures out I'm still alive.

Suicide is not a joke and not an excuse. Imagine how the other person would feel? To think you were dead? Not just dead, but that you took your own life? And then later find out that you played with his emotions like a toy? This is manipulation to the extreme.

EDIT: sorry for the harshness, but I had a very close family member who would use suicide as a threat all the time, it destroys you emotionally. I have little patience for manipulation.

I agree with Christina...but I also have trouble telling people I don't like them, I usually end up making something up also. It's not the right thing to do in the long run.

I would feel absolutely horrible if anybody said that to me.

Neither you nor him ever stopped to think that if you really had committed suicide you wouldnt actually be alive to tell him?

People who commit suicide cannot talk to people and tell them they have done so.

Is this purely attention seeking or do you really have something you'd like us to help you with? Cause I see no point in this thread other than to cause reaction. There are people here who really have issues with sui and to start a thread like this is wrong on so many levels.

I presume you mean that you told him you were going to commit suicide. Do you realize that this action may have caused him to go off and commit suicide for real? It is truly devastating to lose a loved one to a death, especially to suicide, the guilt left on those behind is often too much to bear. Next time, just communcate that you do not want to be with them anymore. Take care.

Maybe this is not my place, but this sort of rubs me the wrong way I suppose. As someone dealing with thoughts of suicide lately, I feel that pulling a stunt like this invalidates the people actually struggling with depression and anxiety. In my honest opinion, it is a completely tactless way to handle things, when you could have simply said you didn't want to talk to them anymore, or even more simply, you could have just ignored their calls.

It feels like an immature way to pull out of a relationship. He is probably gonna realize sooner or later you are alive and you will have to deal with it anyways... and you won't have any high ground then....
