Hi guys. I've been doing a lot of research on managing BP symptoms naturally. I hate the effects of medication, having said that, I'm not saying I wouldn't take medication but I certainly am looking at ways to supplement.

I know diet and exercise is a big part of it. I've also read that Omega 3's are very helpful in specifically managing BP symptoms.

I've got the diet and exercise down. I even went so far as to find out what vitamins and nutrients I need and include all in my diet.

I also am Native and have gone to a native healer and he gives me herbs.

Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks for this!

I wouldn't put too much stock in the Omega-3's as a treatment for BP. I'm on a ton of that stuff and it doesn't even touch my mood symptoms. However, it does keep my cholesterol down and that's why I take it.

That's not to say you shouldn't take Omega-3s. they're good for the heart and circulatory system, and some say they could be protective against dementia. But who knows, nothing is as miraculous as "they" say, and tomorrow some new study might say Omega-3s are bad for us. Does anyone really know for sure? In the meantime, I'm gonna take 'em to help keep my arteries clean and my skin soft.

My psychiatrist recommended me taking omega-3's and magnesium. They do nothing for my mood but honestly I'd take them anyway just for good health haha! Magnesium helps my sleep and omega helps my skin and probably is good for the insides of my body lol.

I'm also going to start taking sAMe supplements soon (or sam-e...same thing lol) to help the depression though apparently it can possibly trigger manic/hypomanic episodes. If you want to know how it works out for me message me in a months time haha!!

Other supplements that I took that did not work out well for me were: St John's Wort, was good at first but then made me anxious as hell and rapid cycle (same reaction I got from anti-depressants except less severe). Rhodiola rosea: Good for energy levels but I ended up feeling too hyped up on it and agitated.

Sorry I couldn't have been of more help! I'm quite interested in natural/herbal remedies too but so far they tend to either trigger anxiety or hypomania or do nothing
Thanks for this!
