It would seem that the BP brain struggles to regulate dopamine much like the pancreas struggles to regulate insulin. Antipsychotics are dangerous and insulin can make your tingling feet fall off or blind you when administered improperly. Way of the future: How to better regulate brain dopamine without the risk of a permanent movement disorder.

I was reading up on this same thing about a week ago before I fell into my depression pit. Dopamine seems like the root of the problems in some studies, but regulating it is just as elusive as it is with all the other neurotransmitters.

Thanks for this.

I think it's been already estabilished it's too complex to pinpoint to one chemical and to get our hope high for the miracle pill.

Holistic is the way of future. And return to the "soul".

Bipolar disorder (& other brain disorders) are complicated. It's not just one chemical. It's a complex system of various parts of the brain not operating as they should do. Also, stability in the childhood home plays a part. If a person inherits the brain disorder but grows up in a stable home, they will get the symptoms but be better able to deal with those. Here's a study I found: Brain Explorer - Focus on Brain Disorders - Bipolar Disorder - Aetiology
