I just started Lamictal, after years of coping without medication. I am really hopeful, as I tried Lamictal once before with decent results. It felt like a mild tranquilizer of sorts, that kept my brain from being so sensitive to outside stressors, and it seemd to lower my anxiety as well.

Anyway, I can hardly wait to get to the higher dosages... anyone else have good success with Lamictal? I swear I can notice a very faint effect on 25mg, but it may just be placebo.

I have had wonderful success on Lamictal.
It helps me to be able to cope with the smells, noise (etc) of the world

Dosage does have to start and work up to a higher dosage, as there can be
bad reactions.

I take 200mg twice a day. My P.Doc started me at 25 and worked up the dosage from there

I am genuinely excited to feel "good" again, or "normal" or whatever you want to call a stable bipolar person.

anyone else have good success with Lamictal? Myself, my son and my husband have all done measurably better than any other mood stablizer we've been on. Were on 150-200 mg.

I am so glad to hear it seems to be already working for you! I know that has to be a relief! I wish you continued success with it!

I was on quite a high dose with decent results - I got "flat" when it got too high and we lowered it at that point. I hated those pointed corners on the pills though! LOL

I find it has helped with my depression. I have no side effects. Seems to be a very good med for me.

It seems I found a Pdoc and started treatment and meds just in time.... I am very slowly going into a hypomanic stage I think. I am not worried about it, as long as I behave normal and get some sleep. I haven't slept well this week because of a cold, but I am starting to feel some hypomanic symptoms... Hmmm

The Lamictal goes to 50mg on Thursday, coming right up, then up to 75 mg the week after, etc.

I am hoping that by the time I get to 100-200 mg that it will help stabilize me as it did in the recent past. I am going to be much more careful this time. a few years ago, I fanned the flames of my mania heavily and let it get out if control. Not this time, I've got a good doctor in my corner with psychotherapy and meds to help me out!
He's a highly rated Pdoc, with a lot if experience treating bipolar.

I know what I am dealing with this time!

Been on it for years with no side effects I've noticed. I finally felt "myself", instead of an out of control beast, with it.
