An old friend of mine says I've got to figure out a way to get myself functioning in society again. I've been impatiently trying with treatment hoping to. Unfortunately, it's a very slow go. I get agitated very easily, especially with people. I don't know what else to do short of going off the deep end which will just cause more harm than good plus no insurance for a trip to a hospital.

Are the only people in this world to chat with in this forum. I ask this because whenever I do go somewhere or call an old friend, all they want to talk about is how much work they have, what car they just bought, where they just vacationed at, or whatever.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not jealous. However, why is everyone completely addicted to the material world?

Like Mick Jagger said, I can't get no satisfaction.
Thanks for this!

I can completely relate. I'm in a place where I am not talking to any friends at all. Anything they have to say is just irritating. I wish I had something positive to say.... I'm not in the best place though.
Thanks for this!

Now I find out that my brother who lives in another state can't talk to me on the phone because his wife gets mad because I interrupt her slave. He can't even visit us anymore. I'm sure she'll stand in line when it's time to divide any inhheritance, which is will be bread crumbs to start with.

Ah, gotta keep up with the Jones'. What every preacher preaches against.

I'm sorry to hear that family can be the worst. I know it's one of my main triggers.

my sympathies go out to you. not everyone is addicted to the material things. I have friends who aren't. I joined some writing groups & altho' some of the members have a Lot more $$ than my husband & I do, everyone is interesting & friendly. These groups are "normals," not listed as groups for people w/any sort of special brain. I also get agitated w/people often but I have found my tribe in these 3 writing groups. 2 are small groups (4-10 members), 1 has about 20-30 in each meeting. There are groups in most cities with various interests, bird watching, witing, reading certain books like Lord of the Rings, etc. I find these groups to be life saving. I have "come out" about having bipolar to 3 people in those groups. They have been very understanding & are still my friends after 5 years. Through my husband's work in the local theater, I've met some great folks. I revealed to one about having bipolar & she has it, too
