my DBT group was a place i could go to feel safe.
then the leader changed and it became a trigger. she is the worst psychologist i've ever worked with. i can't stand her. she's mean.
in one of my manic episodes, which she did NOT handle well, i told her that if i kill myself it's her fault.
i was just finally diagnosed with rapid-cycling bipolar1. after 5 years of struggling.

but now, i don't know what to tell my boyfriend.
we've been together for 14 months. we live together and have 2 pets together.
he says he loves me no matter what. but i feel selfish in the relationship. and i can't please him sexually at all. he's 22, and insatiable and i have no sex drive.

help

**sorry if this is nonsensical, I'm hypomanic at the moment. my thoughts are racing. it took me almost an hour to type this

Do you have a doctor? Who diagnosed you? Are you trying any medication or therapy?

I am bipolar 1 with rapid cycling also. *hugs*

I find change triggers me as well. As for your psychologist and the DBT group. Can you change groups some how? Can you get up enough courage to talk to this person.
DBT is so important for people struggling with BP that I'd hate to see you not get anything out of it now, because of the change.

As for your boyfriend, you are lucky to find such a young man that is willing to be so supportive. Don't feel selfish, this is just all part of your symptoms, I would imagine

DBT does not work for everyone. It helped me deal with panic attacks but not with the bipolar problems. That therapist sounds too negative. I quit a therapy group due to one member constantly talking about how he was going to report members & have them "locked up." I quit another one b/c the therapist would rant & rant about some of his patients & he also kept threatening to have people "locked up."
You don't need to stay in any group that is negative or makes you feel bad! The best help for people with bipolar is one on one therapy, exercise (even just strolls in nature) and good medications. For now, that's what helps the best. I was diag. in 1996 & have been on good meds for over 15 years. My life isn't perfect but it is so much better than b4 meds.

i had a doctor for 5 years, but I'm switching now, and the new doctor is the one who diagnosed the bipolar disorder
the only therapy I'm in is the DBT group. i get one on one sessions with psychologists there, too.

i haven't worked with a therapist since i was 16, my doctor was doing meds and psychotherapy but i didn't like her so i couldn't talk to her much.

I'm trying abilify and neurotonin or something like that?
