Hello to you all,

just went to see m,y pdco yesterday, she actually took time for me and I told her everything about my state of mind. Currently I am taking 125mg of Lamictal per day (just started today)

Well she said I look really great. I also told her that I get those feelings of "simply being me" more often than before. I told her that I still have that weird bubbly feeling of derealization, and she said it might pass, if not, get used of it :/ which is really scary cus I hate this feeling.

Anyways she put my dose up from 100 to 125 mg of Lamictal per day (25 in the morning, 100 before bed) that might help with the "bubbly feeling". I also got some benzo Rivotril to go with it, just a quarter of a 0,5 mg tablet which is the smallest dose.

In case I won't feel any difference on 125 of Lamictal she'll put me down on 100 mg again and put me on ABILIFY and I do hope that won't happen, since it can really mess up with you if your taking antiepileptic med like Lamictal is.

I hope I'll just stay on Lamictal and that my anxiety will slowly go away and I won't even need the benzo. But for all of you that are sceptic about Lamictal, well this is what I found out yesterday.

Side effects like I'm experiencing (more anxiety, derealization, lack of feelings) are copletely normal and even good (!!) since that means the med started working.

Cross your fingers for me, I do hope things will get better soon for me. I am happy to say that pdoc noticed my visual appearance looks really good and she also said that till september I will probably fully recover. From her mouth to God's ears.

I just hope...

Thank you for reading my post! WIsh you all the best

Thanks for sharing your good news. I'm really curious though...what did you mean by the above? I've never heard of abilify and lamictal being a bad combo and I'm wondering what you heard. In fact, it is my combo and I feel great on it!

Yeah Pegasis it is great to hear some encouraging words from your doc and family thanks for all the best wishes and hugs

Eliza Jane I just saw my pdcoa dn her collegue talk silently about taking Lamictal and Abilify, like they are afraid to "try it" on me. I don't know I mean I do hope that IF I go to that combo, I'll be great like you are. But you know my brain works different and that's why I'm scared. I also read it can be a bad combo, depending from person to person.

Like I said if I'll have to take it, I hope I'll be as great as you are But do tell me the difference, cus I still don't get it. I don't have BP but cyclothimia (mild form), yet pdoc are giving me all this meds...I mean why am I than in "better shoes" that someone with BP? Aren't we all in the same s*** (sorry for the ugly word)

Also JAne, did you had any floating feeling with Lamictal? I feel like in a movie all the time, I don't feel, like really feel the world around me. Today it's even worse, cus I only took 25mf of Lamictal in morning, my 100mg dose is still waiting for me in the evening. Dunno if I wrote it down, but my pdoc said "get used of" this feeling :O HOW CAN I? It's horrible :/

DO you think that in combo with abilify that would go away?

Best of luck to both of you and thanks for your reply!

Thank you Plzsti and Dixx it's really great to hear for all the kind words and support though we don't know eachother.

Want to share my bad and good days/news to you. I have been (like all of us) through hell and back and to hell again but hopefuly I am really gonna get better now. I am glad I'm not alone in this and thank God there are ways that we can live our lives normally.

Think of it as a privilege to have a mental illness, we are mentally challenged people that have had either shizophrenia or BP were remarkable people in the past and are in the present (Einstein, Newton, Michalangelo etc.). We are all geniuses

And I will "steal" your quote Plzsti cus I really love it and your totally right... best of luck to all of you, keep us all posted and I will do the same. Thank you

I didn't have that floaty feeling with Lamictal. I do hope it goes away for you!

You mention being on lots of meds...I'm not sure what else you are on, but it is not uncommon to be on a few things to find just the right combo for you. I figure I'll take what I have to take so I can feel good.

Take care!

Thank you guys for your replies.

Jane I am currently only on 125mg of Lamictal and on benzo when I need it. If 125mg won't do the trick they'll put me on 150mg and 5mg of Abilify.
Yea I to hope bubble will go away, I kinnda hate the fact that I'd had to deal with it :/ weird

I also have asthma and am alergic to all sorts of things, so have to take meds for that to.
But you are right, everything to make us feel normal again

Standup, thanks for your positive crutics on Lamictal. I heard it helped many people and I am also feeling better cus of it so I do hope it does the trick for me as well As for the dry mouth, I had none of that, just for the past two days a bit of tick on my lips, but that's it.

You see how each of our brains is specific
Be good all and take care!

Concinella, thank you so much for sharing your positive experience with us all! We all know the extremes that bipolar can bring, but to hear of your story of hope is really encouraging. Thank you, so much!

blwi and Honey thanks for your kind words
Only positive stories helps us through the hard times, I am still struggling (I think), it's hard to tell whether this state I'm in now is really "me" or no. But only time will tell. I hope for the best and wish all of you that are reading this as good health as possible and may the journey there not be so horrible as it was in my case take care!
