Does anyone know if it controls anxiety better than Celexa? I'm a mess.

They are equivalent for controlling anxiety generally, but a person might respond better to one or the other. It might be worth trying a switch to see if you get a better response. See what your doctor thinks

I am on Zoloft and it helps me. My doctor took me off it a little while ago and I became a wreck. My wife suggested he put me back on it and I've been better since. I take 100mg a day. Good luck and I hope you can get some relief no matter how you get it.

You can always try. A lot of these medications are a hit and miss, what's good for me might not help you... It depends on how your body adapts to it.

You know, for a group that allegedly has trouble with anti-depressants, a lot of us are on them. I'm surprised because the conventional wisdom has it that ADs throw us into mania; yet I know I have to stay on my sub-sub-therapeutic dose of Celexa because the alternative is far worse. And I see that a good number of folks are on much higher doses of ADs. It's interesting.....wonder if anyone's done an informal study on the use of ADs here?

Hi, I just started zoloft about 3 weeks ago for anxiety. I haven't been on any meds since I was 15, so I was pretty nervous about it. I honestly kind of feel like I'm on crack...but my anxiety has decreased substantially (!) I had some dizziness/nausea/panic at the very beginning but then it went away - if your doc thinks it's a good idea, I'd give it a try...

I increased my dose very slowly, which I'd recommend if you're sensitive to meds/physical sensations like me. I Also split my 50 mg dose between day and night because it is too stimulating otherwise.

An article with an outline of some current research on bipolar and SSRIs (with the verdict being that they may not be so bad after all...): Antidepressants in Bipolar Disorder: The Controversy Continues | Psych Central Professional

My Pdoc says some antidepressants can be good for bipolar, IF they are taken with a mood stabilizer to contain the mania.
