Is there anything that would make me forget the last 4 years of my life, so I can move forward?

Making the decision to let go and move on and putting in the work would do it. It's rough, but things can get better. If you're talking Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind type stuff, nope.

Excellent and vital input, but I'm close to having less days in the front of the horse than riding in the back of the cart.

I'm a firm believer that it's never too late. And the constant thing about bipolar is that everything changes.

Talk about it, understand it, and learn from it. You don't need to forget it but find a purpose for it. No matter how bad the past four years was learning from it will help.

Yeah -- there a whole chunk of about 5 years I wish I could take back...but then I think, if I didn't have those years, and if I hadn't made the crazy decisions I made, I never would have met my wife and wouldn't be on the right track and getting better....

While I don't have many good memories (or really a lot of memories period) of that five year period (drugs and alcohol and mania make for some insane behavior), if I hadn't done that, I probably wouldn't have met my wonderful and amazingly supportive wife...who saw through my insanity and helped pull me out of it.

So, yeah, forgive yourself, accept what happened, understand it as something that will make you stronger, and was necessary to help guide to a better future. Something you gotta go through hell in order to reach heaven...

I don't think that we ever forget, I think we just learn how to not
let it control us.
