Has anyone had this problem?

I have not been thinking before I act. I have been misplacing things like my glasses what seems to be every ten minutes. I am distracted. When I look for something, I cannot see what is directly in front of me. When I walk, I am off balance and stumbling. This is so rare for me.

Any ideas on what is happening to me?

Um... The first part is common to me. The second what new meds are you on. Are you against an urgent care visit?

I an on 5mg Zyprexa that has been increased to twice a day back several weeks ago. I have had the two together only happen once or twice before in my life. If I were not taking care of my mother, I would seriously consider urgent care.

I was having similar problems with being scatterbrained. It happened after I was put on Zyprexa. My pdoc told me that was one of the side effects of Zyprexa. I was taking 20 mg but over the last 2 weeks I've cut back to 5mg. I'm hoping my memory gets better.

Seems like both being scatterbrained and loss of balance, clumsiness are side effects of Zyprexa. Zyprexa is working for me, so I am reluctant to change to something else.

Just gonna throw in my two cents for what it's worth. I take lithium and klonopin and I have memory issues, but different from what you describe. I forget simple words, appointments, and what happened yesterday etc.

My sister also has bipolar and she has what you describe to a "T". Although she has always had bad balance even as a kid. I think the part where she loses everything is more recent. She takes lithium, Seraquel, and a number of other meds.

Don't know if that is useful, but I hope so.

Balance? Between my blood-pressure meds and the ones I take for bipolar, I'm surprised I can stay on my feet at all. I have to be careful when I stand up too quickly because I'll get dizzy and lose my balance. I've fallen a few times too. And as for being scatterbrained, I've noticed it getting worse with the progression of my illness.....I am unofficially the Sticky Note Queen.

Now what were we talking about??

Both of these things can be the results of meds. I've had bad scatterbrained problems in the past. I quit taking the vistaril I was on for anxiety because of it. I also had to go off the topomax last time I was on it as a result of what it did to my memory. I hope you can get things straightened out.
