lithium didn't make me tired...the latest med im taking knocked me out within 15 minutes of taking it for about 4 months but then that wore off and now it takes me a couple hours to go to sleep. I wish that side effect were still around.

I wished I had something that would knock me out in 15 minutes. I take otc sleep aid or Tylenol PM. They will take 2-3 hours to hit me. I have taken 4 or 5 and same effect. I have to be almost like I'm drunk to hit the bed or else 15 minutes I'm back up.

Lithium totally drained my energy i could no longer get through my gym sessions and was just miserable so i went back to pdoc after 5 weeks and he switched me to carbamazepine and I'm doing much better. If you aren't improving any it's always best to go talk to your pdoc don't suffer on because at the end of the day this is your life, your recovery and your choice . Give it a fair try and if you don't feel any better go back. Your pdoc is there to help. Good luck.

I LOVE MY LITHIUM!!!! I've been on lithium (nothing else) for a year and a half, and yes, it makes me a little sleepy at times. Yet, my mind is now razor-sharp, I remember so much now that I'd forgotten for decades, I haven't had a single "episodic event," and I just started back to work with great success. So, I get a little sleepy, so what? It's a tiny price to pay for so much in return.

Being finally able to remember the past and not have an addled brain? Sounds like me until my doctor came across the right combo of meds.
