Hey guys!
I was thinking, does anybody know, can Abilify at bigger doses (more than 5mg) ease your anxiety or make it go away? Been on SSRI and they almost made me manic...but what else can help for anxiety problems (which meds)? HUGS** ![]() |

Personally, I've not found any med that helps my anxiety. Benzos can make me a bit spacey and definitely less anxious, but I hate how they make me feel and I also have the tendency to take too many. They're also not a great long-term solution because your body adjusts and the withdrawal from them is absolute hell.
SSRIs make me manic too. Also when I tried Zoloft I couldn't pee. That sucked. I've heard of Buspar but I've never tried it. Is there a certain time or situation your anxiety is linked to? I get the worst anxiety when I'm lying in bed at night, and I've finally figured out how to sleep well every night - getting out of the house every day, and routine, routine, routine. I take my Abilify at 10 PM, the rest of my meds at 11 PM, and I'm asleep by 12, very little anxiety. I don't know if Abilify eases anxiety at larger doses, but I know a combination of time and routine eased mine in conjunction with Abilify. My anxiety was generally health related too, and those health problems got fixed so I'm less anxious.

You have to becareful about adding another med on top of abilify. being that your only on day 6 you dont want to "muddy" the waters by adding more meds to the mix ... Are you able to use coping skills to counteract your anxiety?? There are tons of coping skills that can be helpful in just about any situation...
I hope your able to find some relief ![]()

Hey guys thank you so much for your help **
Well the thing is I have no idea if this is anxiety or no. But it's getting worse and worse. I am nervous all the time. My heart is beating and I am shaking and stuff. Can't sit still. I think it's a side effect of Abilify. Cus I am "just" nervous all the time but not having anxiety feelings. I am thinking of calling my pdoc to ask if this is ok, I surelly don't want to harm myself with meds etc. Yes today will be my 7th day of Abilify, and maybe this nervousness that's getting worse is...good? at 15mg abilify made my anxiety bad, I felt really uncomfortable, I stuck through to 30mg I didn't feel right I can't really explain it but it wasn't good and it intensified my anxiety. It has like a 4 day half life which was annoy... I flushed them down the toilet before I got the thought to attempt an OD.

Your symptoms of shakiness, nervousness, can't sit still sound like what I've experienced when I accidentally dosed too high. I was also dizzy and wobble waking. Have you had that? Anyway, anxiety can manifest in different ways and can be hard to differentiate between bad side effects of meds. Either way, similar approaches would address the whole thing, which is what I've found in my experience. I take kava for anxiety along with my meds - Ativan and Lamictal. Some herbs are contraindicative for meds so be careful, but kava works for me. I drink the tea - double bag it, chew the root - buy on line, or tincture form - horrible taste though. Oh yeah, capsules too! If you're having bad side effects though, you may need to adjust your meds. best

I would advise you to try not to count the days so meticulously and carefully. I find the more I obsess about what day I'm on, the potential side effects and what I might be experiencing, the more anxious I get. Sometimes I worry myself into a situation where the side effects are worse than they need to be. I fought through similar symptoms and they went away when I made a solid attempt to deal with the anxiety, and I'm glad because I'm more stable than I've ever been now that I'm on this medication.
