I know a lot of people with bp also have some sort of anxiety disorder - for me it's panic = a lot of heart palpitations / times I think I'm having a heart attack

Last week I went to the cardiologist after having only slept 1 hour and not really eating much all day (though I was feeling fine). I ended up with an abnormal EKG and have to do further testing (going back today). My family has some serious bad luck when it comes to the heart and I've always worried mine is inherently weak or on the verge of exploding. It's always randomly pounding and skipping beats and beating too fast - I hate it so much!!!!!

Does anyone else experience this? I have a feeling it's pretty common amongst us, if only because of the anxiety / weird sleeping and eating and drinking patterns.

Yup, major heart palpitations and rapid heart rate - had everything checked out by a cardiologist and things are OK. I have a feeling the symptoms are definitely related to anxiety.

I also get really bad panic attacks and anxiety. Sometimes my chest feels tight and I can't breath. I started to do some breathing techniques and it helps a little. Maybe you should look into it

Have you ever taken/heard of propranolol? It's supposed to help with all the physical symptoms of anxiety/panic attacks, like fast heart rate and high blood pressure.

Yeah, in fact my doc just recommended this to me the other day...I go back and forth about it because I'm trying to get med-free, but it's tempting for sure. Have you tried it??

I have random bouts of this as well. My heart will start pounding and flip-flopping around in my chest. If I take klonopin it helps. Usually its a sign of impending panic attack.

Propranolol or Indural is often given to slow rapid heart beat and anxiety .. Its not a benzio so there is addiction issues .

Panic and anxiety tend to go hand in hand with Bipolar for most people.

Glad you are getting your heart checked out just to be sure all is A ok .

I have awful panic attacks, too. I've been to the ER for chest pain and difficulty breathing. I've had all sorts of tests.
Apparently, there's nothing physically wrong with me...it's just mental.
I have Ativan for the attacks now. Benzodiazepines get bad publicity because they can be addictive, but nothing else works for me. I can't visualize, meditate, or breath them away.
