Hi everyone
For years I get up two or three times in the night, come downstairs and just sit for 10 minutes or so, go back to bed and sleep well again. I go off to sleep ok no problem. I have mentioned this to my pdoc but he didn't seem to think it was a problem. I just wish I could go through the whole night not having to wake up though! He did ask me what makes you wake up to which I replied that nothing does, no thoughts, just get awake! Anyone else have this problem at all? |

What happens if you don't get up and go down and sit on the couch?

Hi, that's only happened a couple of times ever! Those times I have sat on edge of bed awake then told myself to lie down again and so went to sleep. I just can't seem to do that anymore!
My husband thinks it might be because I snore heavily or it could be something to do with sleep apnea or something. This is really puzzling me. During the day I get tired around 3pm but I don't sleep or cat nap, just rest really. |

Sleep apnea can cause that, might be something to take up with your doc.
I had to take my mom twice for a sleep test, she was prescribed a CPAP machine, even had a changed over to nose "pillows" (worn intranasaly) for better sleeping comfort but wimped out using, didn't use it long enough and still continues to be fatigued. I have a brother-in-law who uses it faithfully, but then again has a higher severity of sleep apnea, and has done well, claims he never felt better. It's always best to rule out any underlying physical causes, it isn't always the things mind related that are culprits. I hope all works out for you, changing patterns is always difficult in the begining, I'm still working on developing better habits, like when I feel tired, go to bed, not fall asleep on the couch and then wake up after the late night news and go up to bed expecting to readily fall asleep. Oh that habit of mine is horrible, broken sleep cycle can become a real nightmare(no pun intended) which we have to take seriously and look into the individual causes we often suffer from. Keep us updated on any new findings. ![]()

I just got my C-PAP machine a couple weeks ago for apnea. Last night I woke up three different times with the mask on my lap. Each time I remember putting it back on. Finally I just set the mask aside and turned the machine off and went back to sleep.
I've never had problems with it until last night.

Thanks darkeyes. My husband works in the medical profession and tonight has brought home a pulse oximeter to measure my sats and he says if it dips in the night then I could have a problem. Will be interesting......
In the meantime, we are both going to my GP to explain the snoring/waking up problem and try and get a referral to a sleep clinic. It just affects our relationship terribly! We just can't go on like we have done. Good to hear your brother-in-law has done well for his sleep apnea (i think the spelling is apnoea! lol). Will keep you posted. |

Pug, I hope you get your CPAP machine sorted and start to feel comfortable with it soon.

LOL!! In the US it is "apnea", it is possible in the UK, they spell it correctly. LOL!! Over the centuries, pronunciation(s) and spelling(s) meandered off. LOL!!
Wow, that is cool, that your husband has access to those medical gadgets. ![]() I'm wishing you lots of luck with this. (((((((( babs92 )))))))))
