Trazadone ain't making me sleep like it did 2 months ago when I started it. If I take 2 or 3 instead of 1, will that make me sleep for about 10 hours straight undisturbed?

Yeah it used to work real good for me...you're on the lowest dose almost, so I'd see about bumping it up. You can take up to 450mg, if you're not on another AD. I personally love Seroquel. Best of luck!

I would ask your doc first before experimenting. I take it for sleep, but I find I really need to be tired before going to bed anyway.

I've done that (fall asleep on the john). It happened several times after I went on Zyprexa in March. At least I never fell off. LOL

I asked my pdoc once why he didn't just give me Trazodone for sleep instead of APs. He reminded me that Trazadone is an antidepressant (well DUH, I should've known that) and I have a history of getting manic on ADs. I'm on Celexa but it's a microscopic dose, not enough to do anything but prevent the worst of the depression.

Yes, Prozac wrecked me once. I quit myself. And looking back over last couple of months, I have been wired since starting Trazadone. Maybe I should quit. I splurged with my very tiny savings. Now I seriously only have 2 grand left. I've been waiting patiently for a ssdi hearing. I was told 1 year. Past May was 1 year. I got really mad in early June and almost killed myself.

Benadryl pretty much knocks me out.

As sucky as your life is right now, I really hope you don't kill yourself. I know money is a huge problem but it seems like someone should be able to help. DFCS, United Way, a church, or a food bank.....even some sort if state funded living arrangement for people with disabilities.

You seem intelligent, funny, and the people here like you. You'd be a good person to help others because it sounds like you've been to hell and back. I think the mental health field needs more people like you mentoring, someone who has been there, instead of someone who read about it in a book.

I think if you hang on long enough, your life will turn around and you'll be so glad you didn't pull the trigger.

I noticed you're in Georgia. Did you know you can pick up fast cash by helping carnivals tear down after fairs and festivals? All you have to do is find the office, which is usually a trailer, and ask if they need help tearing down after closing.
If you have a CDL, you'd have it made because they would undoubtedly need you to drive a truck.
I know people make a lot if jokes about carnies, but it can be a good place for people like us from time to time when we need money. They don't ask much about your work experience or personal life and they couldn't give a rat's *** about our mental problems.

Hmmm. I'll think about that one. I have back disc issue and need some work done with it, so after a few days of lifting, you should see my attitude/moods then.

Oh, I'm only in backwoods, shithole Georgia because I'm stuck, not by choice. The leaders here are so neanderthal thinking it's not even funny. But 2 new professional sports stadiums are going to solve everything. Let the rich money bag players and owners pay for it. Taxpayers ever paid for you a place to work?

**** Georgia! I'm from South Carolina.

Trazadone doesn't function as an anti-depressant until you reach the 200-250mg range. Below that it's only a sleep aid, so I seriously doubt it's making you wired or hypomanic. 100mg is a common dose for sleep, so you could definitely ask your doctor about stepping that up.

I'm about to fire my doctors. I once did a better job myself, functioned well, was employable, and had a reason to live.

Exactly! I can't believe what the super rich get away with!

I guess most, but not all, jobs with carnivals require heavy lifting. You could just tell them you have some back issues, but are in need of money. Particularly the small shows, which are already short of help usually, would probably take you up on it. Often they have to work all night and move to a different town by morning. It's not a time to be picky or ask a lot of questions.

One word of warning, if you end up around South Carolina/ Savannah, you'll want to avoid Magic Midways. I won't go into details. But the show owner's reputation is legendary. Not in a good way.

Believe it or not, I helped them twice when I was kid to pay mother back for taking us. It was the small traveling circuses.

I used to take 200 mg. I would get 8 hrs easily on that dose. I'd ask my pdoc about upping it.

My husband takes 100 mg and it knocks him out for a solid 7 hours at least.
I know your not thrilled with your Pdoc is there another one you can see ? When you next see your Pdoc make a list of all the medications you have tried in the past and why they didnt help or what side effects.. It will allow the Pdoc to find another option easier... You deserve to sleep and feel better

IMO you need to stay on your meds for you SSDI hearing. If you do not need your meds, they may think you are not handicapped by your BP. Play it safe.
