I read a lot of posts on here it helps so much and you don't get judged! So can anybody explain to me how u tell if it's a voice in your head, your thoughts going around or that you are just talking in your head to yourself? Sorry if that's a stupid question but really helps when ppl reply and then I can work it out a bit better.

Are you referring to an on-going conversation you have with yourself? Or are you hearing someone else's voice?
Thanks for this!

It's an on going conversation with myself. I don't hear other people in my head. I think by you asking those questions has just answered it for me!

Ha! I have an internal conversation with myself all the time...or sometimes it's just my voice babbling about whatever comes to mind....most notable when I lay down in bed...or when I am in a quiet room.
Thanks for this!

yeah....funny thing is that before I was diagnosed, I just kinda lived however....and then I was dx's and now things are easier to put into context, but it really makes clear that where my issues are.
Thanks for this!

I think a lot of us have internal conversations with ourselves more or less all the time. Auditory hallucinations, however, are more like someone speaking to you from the outside. I don't know how else to describe it. I don't hear voices so much as I do music, but it definitely comes from an external source.....except it doesn't exist. I've also heard sounds like static that you hear when the radio is between stations. It's weird and I've only had it happen a couple of times during serious manic episodes.

Yep. Bipolar hell. And everyone expects us to pop some pills, and instantly were suppose to patch our lives back together again for the umpteenth time, get a job, and move forward. No one cares. To them we are scum. **** this world, **** this life. Anyone want to make a quick 2 grand and put me out of my misey just like they did fallen horses in the wild west days?

I see and hear things I KNOW are not real because they don't make any sense. Like a marching band coming up to my bedroom on the stairs. If I have thoughts in my heads that make some sense, I assume those are "regular".

I have pretty much 24/7 auditory hallucinations They are not me talking to myself its other Voice(s) people speaking that I do not know. It isnt a big concern to me unless I start to question them.

I also get auditory hallucinations. They are very different from my thoughts because they do not sound like my voice and are completely independent of what I am thinking and doing. Sometimes they can be very loud or quiet. The loud variety originate outside my head. It feels like someone is talking to me from behind. These voices belong to men and women. Some even have accents. They usually comment on my behavior. The quiet ones feel more like telepathic thoughts that sound like the person sending them. These are usually about God.

There are voices in the head and voices outside of the head. I get more internal but also get external. Voices inside my head are very distinguishably from internal conversations I might have with myself, that I meen, thinking to myself. A voice inside your head or at least mine is very different! It sounds like a real voice coming from inside my head! As if there was a radio in my brain. It's sort of like ringing in the ears if you ever had that. External voices are the spookiest because it sounds like some one is standing right next to you and talking.
