Hello I'm on Lithium which has worked well for ten years, but my doc added Latuda two weeks ago.

The first week went fine, but week two turned into a nightmare.

Completely thrown off, massive fatigue with restlessness, and really negative dreams (I never have nightmares, my dreamworld is a great escape for me).

Im not depressed, just feel like having new symptoms Ive never had.

I went off it two days ago, but still having issues.

Has anyone had similar effects with Latuda?

Hope to be feeling better tomorrow ...

Sorry to hear! Thankfully, I didn't have any side effects at all, and I was 120mg, but it pooped out on me! Hope it works better for you though!

I know everyone has heard me a million times, but here I go again. The worst drug EVER!!! I made it up to 40mg and quit. About an hour after I would take it I would go into a complete panic feeling like I could jump right out of my skin, restless as he'll. I had panic attacks everyday all day. I ended up on med leave for 2 1/2 months because of what this drug did to me. My doctor tried to counteract the side effects I was having but nothing was working, quit the drug and everything went down hill. My OCD was times ten I was having a record player all day of irrational thoughts. I was so suicidal. I took 2 months to stabilize me. I was seeing my doctor every week. He said for some reason my body wasn't metabolizing the medication correctly, even at 20mg it did this. I've heard good stories though from others that it was a miracle drug. I wish it had worked, now I'm back on seroquel.

I'm sorry you've had such a bad reaction. I've had no problem on it at all. Not all drugs are meant for everyone.

I had mini pain attacks as well starting this med.. I'm in php so I continued to take it.. it wasn't much fun the first few weeks but that has subsided and now my depression has lifted for now. It's truly a great feeling right now all though not perfect.. I believe the therapy is a huge part. FYI I would 9 had to discontinue latuda as well if I had to goto work and start that.. no way I would of lasted 2 weeks while going to work.. glad I was able to be off

I actually just got off this medication. I didn't even take it that long (about a week) but had to be switched to a different one.

Taking this medication = about 15 cups of expresso. I was anxious, jittery, did not sleep, got terrible headaches, & lashed out at my husband for no reason. It also made me nauseous... Needless to say this medication just wasn't right for me.

I've just started on this medication. 3 days and no change in my mood. The doctor is increasing my dose slowly. I've had no problems yet but I am concerned about getting manic as the dose goes up. I'll be watching for that and if I have any symptoms of mania I'll stop it then.

Just use care.. I'm still slightly manic after 4 weeks.. the major side effects (super edgy and short fused..jaw.. twitches) disappeared after 2 weeks.. I do think if you can take it long enough to get steady in your system.. at least then you can know for sure if it is or isn't for you.. don't know if people can get through that though.. I wouldn't want to do it again honestly... I'm happy I did now.. being slightly and I do mean slightly (not very strong) manic isn't exactly a fantastic feeling especially in tight situations.. I'll take it over the 2 months depression and 3 blackouts.. the last blackout lasted 4 days and landed me in inpatient. . Luckily I explained things and they put me in partial hospitalization. .. so I'll take the meds over that!

Thanks I'll be careful. I am not one who usually has side affects from mess but mania is one side affect I don't want to mess with. Every time I have become manic I end up with a full blown episode.

When I made my last post in this thread I almost added this tidbit of information but decided not too out of people taking it to the extreme or thinking too much into it etc... but after waking up again today feeling refreshed and sharp I guess I will ...

I have felt dopey ever sense I can remember starting taking bipolar meds.. not sure the culprit but I believe it was probably some of each however I'm pretty confident klonopin (no longer taking) and seroquel (still taking) were the main culprits.. this med I'm noticing is making me feel sharper and more "on my toes" in my mind. . While normally my head was under my hind end.. lol .. after reading more about the med it's actually quite conclusive in monkeys to have this "heightened" effect in humans it's a bit more complicated all though it did show some type of cognitive improvement in patients with schizophrenia. .. maybe I'm a monkey... I don't know but I have continued to feel sharper over the last week.. take it with a salt block (grain of salt joke Har har)

I've been on it for 4 days now and I too feel a better sense of well being. I am sleeping better and not as anxious. I am hoping that it relieves my depression. Ever since I've been on saphris mood has been nothing but flat. No happiness, no sadness, just nothing. Now I am depressed and I am tired of being out of it. If it can bring back some feeling of being alive I am all for it.

Sorry you're having such bad side effects! I love it and it's by far my favorite atypical anti psychotic!

I have to share some of my experience with Latuda. I was on it from August of '13 to May of '14. When it was introduced into my drug cocktail it started erasing my memories, in a manner which was on par with serious head injuries.

I was unaware at first. (How do you remember what you've forgotten?) It came to light while I was having a conversation with my sister. She was talking about something as if I already knew the story. It turned out I was part of the story. I had no recollection of it but there were photos on my cellphone that clearly showed I had been there.

This will sound stupid, but I didn't stop taking Latuda right then and there because I was feeling better on the drug. The return of Restless Leg Syndrome was bad but I was willing to put up with it. (I assume this was my version of Akathisia.) I told my psychiatrist about the memory loss but she felt it was due to a different drug.

Meanwhile, my family and friends were extremely scared about what it might be doing to my brain if it was erasing (or perhaps not recording) memories. Also, people were regularly having to retell stories and conversations.

I started to step myself down off of it soon after I discovered I couldn't recall the name of one of my favorite albums. (I'm a music nut.) That was unacceptable. My doctor agreed with my decision.
I'm missing a lot of memories now. I have no way of knowing what got "deleted" from my brain...

My case seems unusual but I feel I should share it in case anyone else encounters memory loss from taking this drug.

I've been on 40 mg since the beginning of September with some fatigue for the first week or so. my last hop on the scale told me I have gained a few lbs since then, but other then that, no noticable side effects... yet. It seems to take the edge off the depression, which is what is prescribed for.
