Hi,
My name is Dawnie and I actually just joined the group today looking for some better insight. At 23, I was diagnose with bipolar and manic depression but the last two years have put the mania and depression into extremes I have never encountered on my own... On august 26th was my first suicide attempt and when I went into the hospital they changed my medication. I feel like im going crazy.. Im anxious all the time but so sad at the same time. I was supposed to enter a therapy program and because of financial issues was able to complete it. I feel like im going to crawl out of my skin, i cant focus on anything but it goes to the other extreme where im so sad and crying. Can anyone give me suggestions on good medication to suggest. I know everyone acts differently to medication but we have been doing trial and errors since january and it just doesnt seem to be getting better for me.

Sound like your in a Mixed episode and they are pure hell on earth.

Do you have a Pdoc? he/she is the one that handles your medications. Can you call them and explain how your feeling? When is your next appointment? There are medications that can pull you outta a Mixed episode.

If you feel unsafe at anytime please go to your local ER they will be able to help you.

Welcome to PC. I hope you are feeling better very soon.

I see no one has answered your message yet, but there are so many nice people here, I'm sure they will, and they can give better advice than I. I'm 63 so I do not fall into the age group I am sure you will soon be hearing from. I am BP. My psychiatrist got it right the first time, (or maybe my BP type is easier to work with) and to date my medications have been doing the job. Soon I hope you're doctor works well with you, and together your life takes a turn for the better. I believe it can. I also think it is very important you seek the help you need before you do something that can not be undone. I half way tried with a gun, but lucky; important organs were missed. I also want to point out as soon as it went bang; I decided I did not wish to die after-all. You're in a very good place here, I promise.

Welcome to the forum. Can't suggest any meds because all different and all respond different. I know that it takes time to figure out what works and reach tx dose. Sorry that is not more comforting. Hang in there, communicate what is going on, and by all means be safe!

Unfortunately we really can't recommend medications because it is so individualized. What works for me may not work for you. I know how frustrating the trial and error process can be. I'm still going through it and it's been a couple of years since my symptoms have come back.

I agree that you need to get in contact with your pdoc ASAP to figure out a new medication as what you're on clearly isn't working. Some medications can make things worse. That's the worst part of all this mess. It's so frustrating. Just know you're not alone and that it will get better. It may take awhile but it will get better.

I have little to no experience in dealing with bipolar so I am far from one who can recommend any particular medications and/or treatments. However, I still want to extend a very warm welcome to you all the same, sooo..."Welcome to PC, DawnieDollFace." I hope you will find this community just as wonderful and inviting as I do.

All the best to you!

Thank you guys for the well wishes, I have an appointment on friday to see my doctor. Due to having state insurance my Pdoc is not the most understanding or listening. Ive been on trial and error for 10 months now. He doesnt listen to me very much, he only prescribes medication and doesnt take the time to ask me how im feeling or anything. Maybe thats the most frustrating part..

my pdoc is like that,,he writes the scripts and relys completely on his staff t to do the heavy lifting.. she has even had him change his mind as my advocate before....how I hope you can get into a situation like I have. (((HUGS))) ps maybe make a quick list you could ask him...straight to the point so to speak..all he can say is not now..
