Hello, new here.
I was diagnosed back in March. I'm trying to find the positive, but it's pretty hard. On a med combo that seems to be working (Trileptal, Latuda), but the day to day coping and isolation gets to me. Looking for the silver lining around the cloud, lol. Any suggestions? ~Rust |

Hi Rust, nice to see you here on the forum.
I'm also only getting by with day to day coping. Not worrying about the past or contemplating too much about the future because that just causes me overwhelming anxiety. As for the isolation - I'm currently not working - but my husbands at work and my kids are at school so I'm home alone during the day. The most adventurous I get when I need to escape the house is go to my favourite cafe that sells the most wicked brownies with a nice cup of cappuccino. Soooooooo healthy! Sometimes you will see the silver lining and sometimes it will be blocked by the clouds, but it's always there until the clouds move away. |

Not sure I can say you will be seeing a silver lining in bp. If you do it would be good to share. As for dealing, there will be days that are good and sometimes only hours. Embrace the good times and try to hold on to them. Please remember even the times you have bad times, this will pass and it will be better.

Chances are you were Bipolar long before you got diagnosed. So you had a life and whatnot so realize you functioned in life prior to the "label" .
Getting the actual diagnosis I know can be a shock and then the whole starting treament and the usual merry med go round. The fear of the unknown. Medications alone wont fix it all . Bipolar needs to be attacked from all sides. Learning coping skills will make a huge difference. Reaching out for people in real life and on here will help with the feelings of isolation. We all "get it" we understand how your feeling . Maybe I am weird but I have seen many good things come from my Bipolar. Learning coping skills and know how and when to use them is a huge thing, Things like Meditation and Mindfulness, Yoga, exercise what ever kind you like, getting enough sun daily,Good sleep hygiene, Breathing exercises, The list goes on and on .. But it mainly is about how to live a wonderful life despite having Bipolar in the picture, It is possible. You will Cycle out of the bad episodes, It always cycles. Welcome to PC ![]()

Thank you for all the replies, everybody. It means more then you know. The isolation and loneliness are excruciating sometimes, but I'm staying treatment compliant and aggressively pursuing getting better.

You can eventually work your way out of the isolation as your medication starts working and you learn to cope.

I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time dealing with day to day. I too am having a hard time dealing with day to day emotions. I suffer from bp and have found that there isn't a lot of silver lining and a lot of coping. I have taught myself to enjoy the little things in life. Realizing that even the simplest things could make you smile.
Best of luck
