I have to be at work at 7, though I can't really get anything done till 8. In the interim I do things like take the quizzes on PC. falling off the table I try to do that weekly just so I can track mood differences.

At 7:15 this morning, I scored "possibly mildly depressed" and no mania.

It's 2:30 pm and I'm in the abyss.

This used to happen a lot pre-Lamictal -- I'd be fine from 8 to noon and suicidal at 12:01. Unfortunately, since the Lamictal nearly killed me, I can't take it anymore. Geodon didn't do a thing and I've been back on Risperdal since early January, which knocked out the mania, thank god -- but I'm wondering whether to chalk today up to PMS or the need for a med change.

I'm new to this bipolar stuff; they always thought I was just unipolar or at most BP II -- till extreme stress threw me into a full-blown manic episode. I'm still less familiar with it than I am with depression, but I don't know how to classify these episodes anymore. Can anybody help?

Sorry to hear how weird things are for you...it's the worst!

My ex is bipolar, and she got manic episodes at PMS time...in fact, that what we thought it was. It wasn't until she was diagnosed that we realized what was going on. Just like steroids can kick off an episode, apparently the fluctuating hormone level can do the same thing. That sucks.

Have you tried Seroquel yet? It is now approved for mania as well as bipolar depression. It's worked wonders for me.

Hope you feel better soon!

I've only managed to see my new pdoc once so far -- she canceled what was supposed to be my 6-week followup appointment an hour before it was scheduled. falling off the table I couldn't get in again till the end of March. I'll mention Seroquel, though.

I'll have to read up on hormones and BP.

Can't recall the name of it, but I know what you're talking about Pughead. My understanding though is that it's only one way - down.
