Mentioned my other pdoc saying i had schixoaffective and my new pdoc today said i ha e classic bipolar one symptoms even going so far as to opening to a page in my file and reading to me about me being psychotic and hallucinating saying "thats classic mania". I give up. I just wanted a good diagnosis for my disability case.

BP I is recognized as a disability by SS. IMO that is all that matters.

Yes, being full-blown manic (as apposed to hypomanic, which is just below full-blown mania) you will hallucinate. I am "classic Bipolar 1" and I've been full-blown manic only once, thank God no more than that. I'm sorry you're going through this, but mood stabilizers and antipsychotic medication can totally cut through the delusions and suicidal thoughts and paranoia and hallucinations, it just takes some time depending on how bad you have gotten. You will get better. You said in another post you're on Zyprexa. It is a miracle worker for this kind of thing! Please keep us updated as you pull through this.

Bipolar artist all those things you listed ive had! Im back on zyprexa now and feeling much better. Only side effect is tiredness. Probably my cholesterol is up but it hasnt been checked again. I feel much better after trying those two other meds- especially fanapt. Ive been full blown manic at least once maybe more. I remember one clearly. But there was also the time recently when i thought everybody at the grocery store wrre aliens and could read my thoughts. Told my t about that but dont know if it went in my file.

Hey Moose72, how are you doing? I hope you're feeling better, since it's been a few days since you felt so bad. I can relate to the feeling at the grocery store, the aliens reading your mind. I know what hell that is, I've been there before. Then when I think people can read my thoughts, the worse my thoughts become out of sheer anxiety. It can be so scary! But I always manage to pull through. I tell that voice, "You're not real, shut up! Go away! You are not real. Leave me alone!" That seems to at least quiet those scary thoughts. Being bipolar is often like battling the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. Keep us updated!

Thanks for your post bipolarartist. Im sitting at starbucks alone. I need lunch but no motivation. Had yet another migraine last night. This one was throbbing. I feel ok right now though. Got part of a necessary evil done today so thats good but that makes two of them i need to call about tomorrow. I always get anxious about papework and bills! Zyprexa seems to still be working but i sleep untill 11 if i can! Tomorrow i must be up before 7 so yeah ill be tired. Seeing t tomorrow after i drop kids at school. Anyway it was nice to see your post as im feeling a bit lonely today. Kids are with their dad.

I have to get up before 7 tomorrow as well. Ugh, I hate it. I'll try to make myself go to bed super early and hopefully with the time change it won't be too painful. Just think, you'll be getting that extra hour of sleep. Just don't sleep too much

Its my bad time of year but so far zyprexa seems to be doing its job. I need to go home and get a shower and do laundry. Gotta get up early tomorrow you know. See therapist too.

I applied for disability online and was accepted on the first try. I just answered the questions honestly and pressed send. I don't know what they did after that to verify my case.

It is probably because you put ECT, which they would consider a last resort treatment. They probably saw ECT and that settled the matters for them.

I thought that it is for bipolar as well as major depression.

Hmm theyve never tried it on me. Is it only for depression? I was sui recently and not even hospitalized

Actually, I applied for SSDI before I had ECT. I had been hospitalized a couple of times by then, though. I also hadn't worked for about 4 years and had a spotty work history of quitting a bunch of times because I got so depressed I couldn't get out of bed. I always quit so that I don't get fired.

ECT is actually effective for my bipolar symptoms because I tended toward major depression and mixed episodes. I have been hypomanic a few times, but I don't think I have ever been full on manic. In my mixed episodes I used to get delusions and I think I hallucinated sounds occasionally like the TV being on when it wasn't. I was also very paranoid.

I have been well for about a year and a half and I think the ECT had a lot to do with it. In fact, I have been taken off my meds and have been off them for a year. I will never take meds again. They made me worse than I was without them.

I fear I might be getting depressed again, and I am fighting it hard....
