Yesterday, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after my anti-depressant sent me into mania. I'm now prescribed 150mg Trileptal twice a day and 10 mg of Zyprexa at night along with the 20 mg of Paxil I was already taking.
I came to the site before. I can't believe that butterfly power was my username. Haha..
I'm so glad to finally talk to a doctor that knew what he was dealing with.
Ready for my battle with this illness!

Welcome to the site and I understand how much of a relief it is to be diagnosed.
I like you went into a manic episode after being prescribed anti depressants whilst I was in hospital. I can hardly remember anything about being in hospital except that I was happy!
Which in it self is strange as most people can't wait to get out.
Things get better and with understanding family and friends it does help, my moods still fluctuate daily but I am learning to accept that this is just the way it's going to be.
Good luck on the site

Welcome back, butterflypower! I'm glad you finally got the right diagnosis. When that happened for me, it was a huge relief. As with you it gave me the strength to battle bipolar, and I started that battle with self-education. I wish you all the best as you continue your healing journey.

Welcome!! So was it the paxil that sent you into mania? I have a pdoc that refuses to give it to me even on a mood stabilizer which is aggravating

He said that I shouldn't be just on an anti-depressant alone.

Thank you everyone! I'm happy to know what's wrong with me!
