I sarted zyprexa 9 days ago on 2.5 mg which lessened my anxiety a little on Monday they upped it to 5mg still no anxiety, but got that electricity thing, irritability, agitated, racing thoughts, hearing voices.
I read it was fast acting, but do you remember how long it took to act and what dosage you started with?

I started at 7.5. I haven't had side effects except dry mouth.

I started with 10. My pdoc upped it to 15. I believe she was prescribing it for my hypo. I took it at bedtime and somnolence the next day at work was serious, I couldn't continue. My pdoc is like meh.. so don't mind what it was for. And smoking affects the dosage. If you're a non smoker, 2.5 to start with seems fine, but of course I'm not a doctor plus I'm new here

Fast acting part seems right. Some even take it PRN. I was taking it with valproate 1000mg + occasional ambien at that time. I hope this helps. dx:BP2 (w/ no notable features)

When I was using Zyprexa as a PRN, a 2.5 mg dose would bring the mania down to a manageable level within 36-48 hours. I was put on it full-time 9 months ago and haven't had a manic episode since. I was on 5 mg but it went up to 7.5 when I was hospitalized. That's still a pretty low dose, but it's enough to make me groggy in the mornings.
