Saw my pdoc today and go her to sign a form for one of my absences related to PMDD. On the form it says that the physician has to confirm whether the condition is severe. My pdoc confirmed that it was. It always surprises me a little when she signs it, it's a reality check. It's heartening to know it's not all my imagination, what I have is actually a medical condition. I should see my regular MD about the dizziness though at ovulation and near my period. TMI alert, sorry.

Does anyone else with PMDD want to discuss their experiences and coping strategies?

I don't have PMDD but maybe if you post this in the forum for women's issues you will find others who have that problem.
Thanks for this!

I don't have PMDD but I can relate to the constant shock at seeing on paper the seriousness of my diagnosis. When I have been discharged from hospital I read the report and am always amazed at how unwell it makes me sound. Not like it was news to me as I was in a psych ward but for some reason I am always shocked.
On a side note my symptoms used to worsen significantly around my period every month until I started taking Lithium and now I hardly even know I am due as I feel fine.

Hi Love&Toil,

I don't personally have PMDD either, but I hope that members who do can come forward and offer you some input.

Take care.

I was diagnosed with PMDD. Its really important to track your mood so you can show your healthcare professionals what is going on.

It was so severe with me getting suicidal and self harming every month the night before the bleeding started, then when it did I would be mostly fine again.

Its been a rough trot. I tried all the diet and exercise, meditation, yoga, vitamins, bach essence, crystals, pretty much anything I could afford and try, I did. When none of it worked - It was agreed between my pdoc, t/pdoc, gp and gyno that the mirena was my best option to stop the periods. I have had it 10 months now and for the first 7 it was hell, but the last few, no periods and no PMDD symptoms! I still have issues to work on but it is so much easier now I am not in crisis every month for exactly 9 days.
