Talking about AP and hallucinations…
When I wake up in a manic way sometimes, I can vividly see moving, grainy, shimmering objects and walls with a rainbow kaleidoscope grid of dancing symmetrical shapes with mini spheres that are constantly morphing into other shapes filling my vision. I just sit staring with mouth agape.
This has caused my anxiety to skyrocket at times with the thought that eventually I'll go insane because this is going to be all that I can see- forever.
Then I remember that I didn't take my AP the night before.
I take deep breathes to calm myself down. Normally I can tolerate it and ignore it, but sometimes it's over whelming.
ACan anyone relate?

My symptoms return almost immediately if I miss my AP. I don't sleep well, either.

I have all kinds of reminders to take my meds. Sounds like it might help to set a system in place so you don't forget them. Keeps the demons at bay...

Yes, I have pill boxes. It's only good if I remember. It was hard when I was drinking.

Are you in treatment for your alcohol abuse? Or do you even want to stop it?

It's virtually impossible for someone with Bipolar to find stability while drinking.

I was just recently in a hospital and my meds were increased and the desire to drink has disappeared.

Your experience with visual hallucinations saddens me. Mine are more audio then visual. If I had to deal with what you do, I think daily living would be much harder. I sympathize with you.

I wonder if what we experience would be able to be more categorized and better able to predict if Doctors would begin separating audio / visual (other senses, like the people who have trouble with shower stimulation - physical?).

Sorry, got sidetracked. Really I had read and not responded to this post 2 days ago, but thought of it so much I had to go find it just to say - hugs, you are not alone, sorry to hear about the bad hallucinations.

Best of luck to us all.

Thanks Imah, I think it all sux. The AP really helps keeping it under control. I think audibles would be a lot worse.

I guess we all learn to cope with our situation if I think yours would be worse and you think mine would be worse we are both doing pretty well.
