Can you try taking Trazodone at night to get to sleep?

That is a good suggestions angelique. From person experience trazedone was really helpful during my insomnia periods. You might try over the counter sleep aids as well, or speak to your doc about a prescription to help you sleep.

I have a muscle relaxer called Tizanidine that knocks me out too. Maybe you could try that?

You have bipolar and he wont give you seroquel!? Thats crazy..it seems to be a favorite with my doc. He can write its to compliment the mood stabilizer for delusions or whatever! The biggest thing is changing the bad habit of your inner clock. Do not sleep during the day no matter what and stay away from caffeine then take whatever u can at night

Melatonin can help the resetting of the clock. But the real problem is your overactive mind. I would force yourself to a schedule like that which you have for a job. Nothing like getting up early in the morning to promote sleep later in the evening. Exersize may, help. FWIW

I second melatonin. Its always helped me when I have a reverse sleep cycle.
Whats your sleep hygiene like? Do you have a routine at bedtime? Sleepytime extra tea can be helpful. It might suck for a few weeks but basically go to bed the same time every single night and wake up the same time every single day. Even if you dont sleep at night, it doesnt matter, you are still resting your body. Do not allow yourself to sleep during the day. Every morning if you are in a place it is possible, go out side for 10 minutes and soak up the day light. It can be tough for some people but it works. It might be helpful to you to start practicing meditation. It may help you slow your mind at bed time. It takes a lot of practice but dont give up - it is worth it. This method works better than any meds I ever tried, and a few years ago I tried everything. |

I used to be a vampire, still can be if I don't stay on my toes. Turning everything off an hour before I try to sleep and only reading helped as did 5 minute nothingness. Just sitting and focusing on my breathing, it's hard to empty the mind but I didn't force it and it kept getting easier.
Last is melatonin to reset the carcadian rhythms, you need to take it in the afternoon so it starts working.

I use valium on a semi regular basis. When my sleeping patterns start to go out of wack, I will take valium for a week to get to sleep at a decent time then stop using them again. Doing this I can usually get my sleep patterns corrected and they last for several months before having to do it again
