Some meds have been known to make me feel like that. Even just the depression leaves me exhausted after the least amount of exercise. Before this last med change I needed a nap every day after lunch because I was so tired.

When I am well I function rather normally. I have always maintained somewhat of a healthy lifestyle and most of the time, i experience mental exhaustion, not so much physical. I work full time, and do pretty well, and most of the time I get decent sleep (saved for manic/mixed states).

I've felt extreme chronic fatigue like this, turns out it was due to hypothyroidism. Might be worth getting that looked at if you haven't already.

Also, of course chronic fatigue can go with depressive episodes.
Thanks for this!

I've always struggled with energy and exhaustion. I'm forcing myself to exercise, but while it helps with other issues, it doesn't increase energy levels much at all.

It's a serious issue for those of us who gave it; thank you for the thread.

Oh! And if you have insurance and it's covered - consider having a sleep test. You may have sleep apnea - I do. Using a CPAP machine helps a lot; I got out of the habit during the last allergy blitz and need to go back to it. Thanks for jogging my memory.

I agree that a physical checkup, if you haven't already had one, is a good idea.

I have suffered from bouts of chronic fatigue related to fibromyalgia in the past. But they were bouts, not persistent.

Also, I have experienced extreme fatigue when in a depression.

It could be many things.

I have been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and it is a horrible illness to have. Have you been diagnosed? I find pacing my exercise, good diet and reducing stress where possible helps. I was nearly bedridden with CFS five years ago but have slowly been able to increase my ability to function. it is a long hard slog and I am in no way cured. I have been able to go back to casual work in the last year but even that is tough going physically and mentally. I find when I get hypomanic I totally overdo it and end up crashing physically when I come down. It feels like the worst flu ever and is hell to have with bipolar as well. I wish you all the best.

I am fatigued during all of my day. I have been so, unless manic, since I was pregnant with my youngest daughter (she's 16 months). I have attributed it to depression but, even when I am not depressed it seems I cannot move from the couch. When I am depressed I will even fall asleep some with my 1 year old there which is scary. I now think it is due to medication but there is not much I can do about it. I used to be so active and busy. Now I'm like a bump on a log.
